Borrowed points put back yet??

Good Morning,

I cancelled an Aulani Spring Break trip Tuesday (reservation date started today) and after being told borrowed points (2020) wouldn't be returned to the year they were borrowed from, I have since been told that they would.
I know they say it could take up to 30 days to happen. I am just curious who's borrowed points have been returned.
When did you cancel, when was your trip and when did the points get put back in the correct year?

My understanding, I could be wrong, is that the exception to the borrowed points rule does not apply to reservations to Aulani, since that resort is open.

If you read the notice on the DVC website, it says Aulani reservations canceled will only be exempt from holding.

If a CM told you this, I’d call back and talk with a supervisor because what you were told is not policy, and therefore, may not get it to happen without getting a special exception.

You got lucky. I have a June reservation at BCV and was told the borrowed points wouldn't go back to 2020. I think DVC needs to be fair when it comes to bending rules. I am okay one way or another (undo borrowing or not), but it needs to apply to everyone, IMHO.

They have been pretty consistent with the borrowed points returns to just March trips. It seems today they have allowed a few April ones and I bet they were told to let it happen because the chances of April trips going are slim.

There is a good chance June trips will still happen so it’s too early for them to know if rules need to be changed for those trips,

I had a March reservation and my borrowed points were put back into the account the same day we cancelled the reservation.

I tried today to get borrowed points put back for a April trip I have the June UY but told no will have to put into holding or RCI
as they may be open in April . Won't have many choices for the 60 days if they are closed for all 60 .

Well, based on the new order by Orange County mayor, they can’t be open until April 10th. So, I’d monitor and call back when we have official confirmation about it.

I also called today to cancel an April trip. It was made with all borrowed points and they were put back into their original UY while I was on the phone.

I have 1 rental for April, 2 rentals for May and my own 40th Anniversary trip scheduled for May...I really hope Disney let’s us in on their plans soon...

I called today about canceling an early May trip. I live in CT and right now the governor of FL says that anyone coming into Florida from CT, NY, or NJ has to self quarantine for 2 weeks. So no point in going down for a week. Also no end date given for this quarantine rule.

I got my 2019 points back and banked them and my borrowed points are going back.

No, my banking window ends March 31. Didn’t want to wait until the last minute in case they officially announce an extension and I can’t get through.

Most are reporting it’s not taking anywhere near that long but maybe they figure it’s better to say that and then members will be happy if it happens sooner?

They told me the same thing last week when we cancelled our pre-cruise Aulani stay in May (June UY - borrowed points). They had to "submit the form" & it could take 30 days. It actually took 2 days. I think some CM's are able to do it while you're on the phone, & some must submit the request to someone more knowledgeable?

I called to cancel an early May trip yesterday. My UY is August so my deadline for banking was March 31. I used 2019 points and borrowed from 2020. I was told it would take 30 days to unborrow my points.

I logged in today and all my points are there in 2020...don’t know if some CM understand the form they have to fill out better.
