Borrowed points and possible Ressie changes...

I have a few questions concerning the process of borrowing points. We currently have a confirmed reservation at SSR for June 3rd thru 10th that may need to be changed due to a scheduling conflict with our kids school. The ressie totaled 225 points, of which 25 were borrowed from our 08' total(200 SSR/October UY). I originally used points(100total!) for the weekend portion but have started to question the wisdom of this decision. My main question is if I decide to reschedule our trip, what will happen to the 25 borrowed points? I am aware of the basics on borrowing ,and DO plan on a trip this summer, so I'm not concerned about forfeiting any points. If I decide to use points for the Sun. thru Thurs. portion and $$ for the weekend, the ressie will require less than our annual allotment of 200 points. I'm thinking that I can bank the unused 07' points, but what happens to the original 25 08' points?? Does MS apply any borrowed points first, and then draw from the annual allotment?? Just trying to weigh my options before proceeding... Any insight would be appreciated from this DVC newbie!

Ken...this is what MS should do if you re-schedule your vacation. In general, MS tries to used banked or borrowed points first in a reservation since those points are stuck in that UY and can't be moved. When those are depleted they should use the annual allotment.

But don't assume...go ahead and ask if that's what MS is doing. And one important thing...after the new reservation, ask them to go over current and future year points with you to make absolutely sure they did what you wanted them to do.

It's much easier to fix something during the original phone call than going back and playing "he said/she said" with MS.

Lastly, once the reservation is complete, look on the member web site the next day and your points should all be where MS told you they would be. If not, get on the phone right away and straighten it out.
