Borrowed and OTU pt re-allocation?

I hope this makes sense: I borrowed 21 pts from 2026 ( I know I can't bank these) for our 2025 trip. I am planning to purchase the Membership Magic Beyond offer. If I purchase OTU points for an additional night, can I then cancel and re-allocate the OTU pts to my existing reservation? If this works, would I be able to bank the 2025 points? I wouldn't normally think about it but the OTU deal is a really good perk.

It depends. If you booked during the home resort period, you can’t substitute OTU as they are only good for bookings made 7 months or less

If the trip was made inside the 7 months window, then yes, you can buy them something and then cancel and have them swapped, as long as it’s done more than 31 days before check in.

Now, if you did use home resort advantage, you might be able to do it if there are nights at the beginning or end of your trip still open once you get to the 7 month mark,,,

Can you get OTUP for the restricted resorts? I would think “yes” since they are all direct from Disney.

You can buy them and use at restricted resorts. If you don’t have access to them on your own, then you can’t modify without calling if you want to change the dates.

It certainly does allow one to get a night, maybe 2 at VDH? in a studio or a cabin.

Not really because it’s only one night and if someone isn’t already eligible for those resorts, not sure there are a ton of owners who do one night stays.

I think this could have a marginal impact on VDH and potentially the beach resorts because people extend their trip for a day.

For instance, this effectively increases the direct points I could use at VDH at 7m from 200 to 224. Very easy to add in an extra day before a work trip to SoCal and hit up the parks.

Of course, this is all on the assumption that I am going to pay $99 for this program….

Depending on the price of the weekday tickets and if they add one or two Aulani perks it could push me across the finish line….
