We arrive one day before our tour. On our first day I plan to visit the ruins at Ostia Antica. The day the tour starts we do not all get together until dinner, so I was planning on sleeping in a bit and the going to Borghese Gallery. I have the link to buy the tickets, but was wondering if anyone has gone and how easy it would be to get to from the Hotel Bernini Bristol.

I haven't done the ABD tour of Italy, but I was in Rome every week for 6 months while working on a cruise ship - all I can say about Borghese is GO, GO, GO!!

It's absolutely incredible - the sculptures were my favourite part. And it's small enough to do in a few hours. If you go early, you may even be able to squeeze another something in before dinner.

It looks very close to the Hotel you mention. You may want to take a cab, it's a bit of an uphill walk to the Gallery and the subway.

Enjoy - Italy is spectacular.

I have read so many wonderful things about Borghese. I am so anxious to see the sculptures as they look amazing.
I went ahead and bought our tickets today. The website also provided a map to where the Gallery is located and you are right it is not far from there at all. Goggle maps indicate that its about a 20 minute walk. We may walk to the Gallery and then take a cab back if we are too tired.

You might also consider the hop on/hop off tour bus to get you there. It has a couple of stops very close by. Disney provided free coupons for us on the official start day. It gives you a good lay of the land, too.

That is a good thought, thank you.

It is definitely a must do. We hired a private guide from Context Tours and it was quite frankly one of the best museum experiences that we have ever had. The Borghese does not actually allow tours but this was done like friends walking through the gallery. Your time in the gallery is limited to 2.5 hours and they are very strict about shooing every one out so the next group can enter. Accordingly, decide ahead of time what you want to focus on so that you don't get cut short in the end. Enjoy.
