Bored with WDW Merchandise

I'm bored with the cheesy 'gift shop' ride and park merch. And myabe it's just me, but I want some things I would wear at home during normal life (and not just in the parks as a souvenir shirt). I wear Disney stuff around the house, but not while I'm working or out and about. I just can't get myself to wear Mickey and Minnie screen printed on a t-shirt every day.

I wish they had a fitness line... something subtle. Maybe with a hidden Mickey or two! I think I'm on to something here...

What do you think? What type of WDW park-themed clothes or home merchandise do you wish was available?

They do have a line of fitness merchandise out now. In fact, I'm wearing the yoga pants right now. They're black with a multicolored waistband and subtle Mickey design on the left lower leg. They had multiple top options available as well. :thumbsup2

I'm frustrated with it too! We don't go to Disney really regularly, about every 2 years, but I keep finding the same merchandise over and over again. Not a lot of changes and updates. For instance, I have the Mickey head silicone pot holders that I bought in 2009 when we were in WDW. I found them when I went in 2009 and again in 2012. Not that I mind it, but I was looking for new and fun!

I collect Disney cookie jars. They haven't had a new one in many years. Same old one in the parks and on line.

I agree about the clothes in the parks and disney stores--- they need to get together with the merch people from "Hot Topic" - my wife gets her disney clothes there now--- nice stuff!!! Even the t-shirts that we bought from Walmart are nicer!!

I went in December and it was freezing and I was too cold just at night, hot all day, I forgot my cardigan one night and it wasn't thick enough anyway. I didn't want to buy something I didn't NEED so I actually got a hot pink windbreaker, it has the white disney logo on the breast not very big. My sister teased me for buying it saying "when would you ever wear that?" but I've never seen her in logo-wear EVER but her husband and I both agreed it was a smart buy. I wear it anytime it rains and now that we are going in August it was a very smart buy because it will be nice and light weight to carry and will work perfect for the august rain. I'm not big on logo wear myself and while I think "oh yoga sweat ants or tops" eh nah not really.. I think sweatshirts are always useful but really nah not into it.

I'm with you!
Every trip, I search high and low for something I'd actually wear outside of The World, and I have yet to find anything. I'd love to get a pair of sweats, but the ones I like, the designs are always on the bottom of the leg(s) and I'm short - If I wanted to be abel to wear them, I'd have to get them hemmed, hence lose the design! This trip I'm more into Alex and Ani bracelets, which I will wear outside of the parks, so I'm happy with that :)

Couple thoughts: I can't believe the line of Disney merchandise that's out there in normal retail channels! DIL has some super vintage looking tanks and T's that are absolutely park-worthy and she picked them up for pennies as compared to park prices. DS wore some T's he picked up from Walmart, I believe, last trip--and we were stopped in every park "where did you get your T on park"? Obviously we limit our purchases at WDW to clothing specifically dated and specialty themed.
I do have a wonderful Disney collection of watches from 20 years of visits. New designs every 4-5 years; I'm happy to see most of my original buys still offered at the DTD World of Disney Store :lmao:
I enjoy buying kitchen items such as wine stoppers, Beauty & The Beast dishes (new in Fantasyland) and anything resort themed.
I feel fortunate I get to go to WDW often enough to be "bored" by most of the soft items;)

I couldn't agree more. Hot Topic's Disney line is incredible and far surpasses what's offered in the parks!

I love the Disney merch in the parks! I fell in love with Villains in Vogue and I love the haute couture style that they've got for the princesses (notebooks, scarves, shirts)- very classy.

I've started collecting mugs (I think I bought five on my last Dis trip) and journal(they're official Disney but they're only at Target from what I've seen).

And we see more and more ppl wearing their Dis clothing line each time we go to WDW !

DW just bought a Peter Pan outfit that is really nice ! Their designs are absolutely stunning !!

It's funny my Husband had commented on this on our last trip. He stated that when we went in 2008, there was more unique merchandise in the different shops. You could not just go in one and find the same stuff in each like you do now. In 2008 I actually had to go to several shops, both in HS and MK to find a tshirt to find one tshirt I had seen somewhere and wanted to buy. In 2011, the shops no longer had much individualization or even very much ride unique merchandise. And you could find the same thing in every shop.

Then, on our trip in 2013 we saw most of the same items from 2011. The only differences were mostly the year specific shirts.

Hugely bored as well. I go at least once a year. In the past year, I have been there in Dec for 6 days, Jan for 2 days, June for 10 days, going in Sept for 6 days, in Nov for 5 days. The last thing I bought at WDW was last Nov during the Food and Wine 5K. Otherwise, it'a always the same stuff we already have.
I also wish they carried a more adult line with less obvious logos. I'm too old to be wearing MM tee shirts at home!!
And the days of finding really unique mugs have gone away! I can't even find a decent bone china mug in England anymore! And the Disney themed ones are just the same everywhere. My favorite mug from Disney is one I got years ago at AKL....really unique. But they haven't carried those for about 3 years now. So, I'm done buying.

I have been bored with disney merchandise for sometime now especially the quality of their items. This last trip we went off property on 192 to a store called Disney Gifts Outlet 2 and found tons of stuff we loved, better quality and cost much less then Disney. I went home with 8 shirts alone. :thumbsup2

If anyone wants the address PM me and I'll send it to you as I am not sure we are allowed to post it on here.

Got this for $6.97 at Walmart for DW and DD--- wish they had these type of designs at WDW

I love kitchen/household stuff and vintage merchandise. The regular kitchen stuff hasn't changed in years and years so I haven't bought anything in a long time. I did find some unique vintage inspired stuff in the new CO-OP store at DTD. I really liked that store and hope it proves to be popular so they can expand their offerings. I got a super cute Orange Bird ceramic figure for $20! Fits perfectly with my house decor (theme park vintage).

Those are my favorite things too!

I got a cute mickey shirt at kohls a few weeks ago (in the juniors department, so I had to buy a bigger size than I liked, but it's cute and somewhat subtle...I wear it out.)

We haven't bought many souvenirs in years.

I liked it when there were specific park (and MK land) themed polo shirts for DH, and good heavy cotton t-shirts (no flimsy see-through things) that were park themed. I don't want something with the year I was there with Fab Four on it each year.

The other thing that's happened is they'll have a cute sweatshirt or t-shirt for kids that I love but it's not made in an adult size. (My kids are adults now).

I'm a guy and I'm bored with their stuff. The same 4 golf polos have been there for 4 years (put a new character on one), the same Hawaiian shirts, the same everything barring 1 or 2 new tee-shirts.
