If you are looking for great coupon codes you need to check out Border's Rewards Perks and sign up for Overwhelming Offers. Its like Bing or Ebates where they give you a rebate after making a qualifying purchase, but the rebates are huge, like half off. There is a catch of course, there are only a certain amount available and you have to reserve one in time before they are all gone and if you do reserve you must make a purchase or you will be charged $10. It is free to sign up, you are never charged unless you reserve and don't use it. Normally I don't like things like this but I was looking to purchase some Uggs for my dd and did not want to spend $100 on them. Last week I got an email letting me know that one of the offers was $90 off (really back since its a rebate) a $180 purchase at Ugg Australia. I tried to get in but it was over in seconds, I also lost out of the other one for $50 off a $100 purchase from shoes.com. One opens at 12 noon and the other at 12:05 every day. Well today I lucked out, I got in on a $50 off $100 purchase at Saks. Ordered my dd's Uggs (had to pay shipping and tax) and I will be recieving a rebate of $50 :cool1::woohoo::yay:

Just wanted to share since the holidays are coming and people will be thinking of making large purchases.

Thank you!

Your welcome. I was just googling it to get more info and it looks like other merchants participate too. Mastercard has it too so you don't have to just get it through Borders.

Has anyone been using either of these programs? How do you like them? Borders is having a $25 starbucks GC for $15, $10 is a rebate. Has anyone had any experience with the rebaters and how they work???
Thanks!

I used this alot a month or so ago. At that time, you really used to get cash back after you make your purchase. Now you don't get the cash back but you get points. Granted you can use the points at different retailers but I think the first time you use it now, if something is $200, expect to pay oop $200 and you would get $100 back in a points account to spend on online retailers.

I havent used it since the changed the way the program gives rebates. They used to give you a cash rebate, now they give you a rebate in points. I used it for a Saks GC and when my sale didn't show up in my acct, I just contacted them and sent them all the order info and they processed my rebate. I also got a Fandango GC $25 with a $15 rebate, and had no issues with that one. They really have great rebates, but I'm not sure I like the changes.

Oh I don't think I like that at all. I was under the impression it would be a rebate not points, guess I didn't read it very well. Thank you both so much for letting me know your experience.

I'm looking for comments from experienced BRP OO members.

Anybody ever returned an item bought through OO link and returned it? Do you get charged the $10 no-show fee or is that only if you don't complete the purchase. Also, I realize that the rebate "may" be recalled (not sure how that could happen if it's already posted on the credit card) but would your Star Advantage get affected by that return?

I wish I had a MasterCard as the OOs offered through their MarketPlace don't have this $10 no-show fee crap.

Overwhelming Offers are not a deal unless you are homebound or don't have a car. I was introduced to OO through an email offering $10 off $25 purchase at Target. That sounded pretty good. I really didn't understand what I was accepting or "winning" as they put it. They want you to spend $25 at Target online, not including tax and shipping. Just to see how it worked I followed the links. Both OO and Target require you to post your credit card information prior to purchase - um, no way. This is a shady business practice. I found a Brita water filter online that I had purchased in store the day before. Online it was $3+ more, not including shipping and waiting 3-5 days for delivery. Who doesn't live a few miles from Starbucks, Target, ToysRUs? Where is the deal? You would be better off signing up for email notifications for Groupon, LivingSocial or DealOn. They send the offer to you, you can choose to accept or not, you don't have to spend anything and you are getting a discount. The incentive is on the merchant to provide the discounted offer, so there is no risk on your part. No, you won't get discounts for Starbucks or major department stores. These discounts are mostly for dental services, spas, hair salons, resturants and hotels in your city. I've purchased many Groupons and have never been disappointed and never had to "spend to get".

Um, me. And the thousands of other people that live in my community and surrounding areas. Nearest Target and Toys R Us...75 miles. Nearest Starbucks...25 miles.

I don't mind "spending to get" IF it is something I planned to spend on anyway. For instance, just bought Bath and Bodyworks online, went through my Mypoints, got points. Now, I was in BABW today and would have bought there (with no points LOL) but they don't stock my perfume that I wear. So I came home and ordered it. I am about to place an order for my face stuff. I use Juice Beauty, no one anywhere seems to carry it (at least not near here or any city I've visite far and wide :lmao:) so I will order it online and go through MP again. However, I wouldn't be charged for NOT completing a purchase. That is the part I don't like.

I DON'T live near anything ;) No Starbucks, Target, ToysRUs. Not even a Pennys or Kohl's :rotfl: IMO, unless I have a trip planned to go where those stores are, ordering online and getting "points" is worth it.

It really depends on what you are shopping for. I have used Groupon also and have gotten some great deals but my best deal was from OO. I also don't mind spending to get, if I was looking to spend anyway why wouldn't I want to get a discount of 50%, seems like a no-brainer to me.
The business practice isn't shady at all, they (used) to use your CC info to give back your rebate. Yes, if you failed to purchase the OO you won then there would be a $10 penalty but that was stated up front, nothing hidden. I didn't have a problem with that, they do it because there are only a certain number of offers available and that is their way of preventing people from "winning" over and over and not using.
I don't like the points rebate that they do now, I'd much rather have real cash back, but I think you can request cash instead of points. To each their own :)
