Just an FYI, my DH spent the weekend in Barrie. We crossed at Lewiston about 10:30 Friday night, pretty much breezed through--maybe five cars in front of us.

Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon we got there at about 12:15, and it was a madhouse. Traffic was backed up well over the bridge past the toll barrier, and it took us over 1 1/2 hours to get from that point to immigration. Getting back in to the States was a breeze, we offered our passports and they didn't even bother to look at them! (Same thing had happened on teh way into Canada!)

Just wanted anyone planning on using that crossing to drive to WDW, plan on some crazy backups!

Between an accident on the QEW, the madness at the border, and construction in PA, it took us 13 hours to get from Mississauga to Central NJ. (Normally an 8 hour or less drive.)

Thanks for the heads up Ducklite. By the way your new house is beautiful.

I think that our customs officers are "working to rule" on certain days/times. I drove right past this crossing to get onto the Niagara Parkway last Wed morning ... it was a mess with all of the construction, but no lineups. Someone we met that day on the tour bus said that it was totally nuts with traffic the previous Sun morning. Guess it's all luck of the draw right now. Sounds like crossing at night is the best bet!

Anne ... your new house has really come a long way since earlier this year. You must be getting so excited to get in. When is your first trip to Orlando when you will be able to stay there?

I also heard that customs at the border was doing work to rule. I've crossed at Lewiston many times and it's normally a breeze. Excluding long weekends and holidays that is.

So for anyone crossing right now you probably want to give yourself some extra time if you are on a schedule no matter where you cross.

Thanks for the comments about the house :) We're going down in 3 1/2 weeks to "move in". We'll sleep there for the first time on September 8th. Can't wait!!
