Borat - was the church in the movie real?

IAs for Pam Anderson-- I couldnt imagine her not knowing--- otherwise he would be in jail right now.

That is what I thought too...except she is a better actress than I realized! i thought it might be possible that she didn't know and then didn't file charges when she learned she was the theme of the movie.

I still don't understand how they didn't get arrested after the hotel incidents. as for the church, I have no doubt it was real. there are churches in this country where people handle snakes, speaking in tongues doesn't surprise me one bit.

Looked far too radical to be real. Especially expecting Borat himself to start "speaking in tougues", which of course he did, mimicking the gibberish coming from the person holding his hand on his head.

Believe it my friend...it was one of the most disturbing parts of the movie (I would imagine) for those that didn't realize what happens in many Churches in this country, but hopefully one of the most enlightening parts of the film as well.

Be careful who you vote for.

We finally watched the movie the other night. We thought most of it was very funny. We started laughing within minutes of the start. The only part that I found disgusting was when he partner was naked and sitting on Borat's face! I had to turn my head. It just made my skin crawl! LOL!

Yes, I loved the movie Borat.

No, I never want to see a 400lb man's butt crack and bean bags again.

Yes, there are churches like that. I belonged to a Pentecostal church as a child. (Don't remember if that's the denomination that Borat visited) The "speaking in tongues" is considered one of the "gifts of spirit" - i.e., one of the 7 Biblical signs that you're "Jesus-y" enough.

Makes me wonder how many others fake this stuff like Borat in the movie.

I wonder how the waiver was written up so that they could 'trick' these people into thinking it was one thing, but still be legal to use it for these purposes:confused3

There was an article on msnbc that discussed the waivers. The producers would purposely show up late and cause some sort of commotion to distract the people while they were signing them. And they purposely made the language of the waiver vague and tedious to read.

Personally, I thought the movie was hilarious. It was different than anything I had seen before. Its definitely crude and offensive but that doesn't usually bother me. If you decide to watch it, check out the deleted scenes on the DVD, there is some really funny stuff there.

As far as being anti-semitic, its so over the top its ridiculous. It shows anti-semitic people as the fools they really are.

haven't seen borat yet - but today, took the dvd out from the library, so tonight's the night!
