I think your room will be the same size. IIRC the old bigger "deluxe" rooms were all converted to DVC. The reason why there is even a "value" category is because they also converted some regular sized rooms and those became the "value" rooms.I thought you need the magic band to open the laundry room door?
Do not remember from last stay whether the room was actually locked or not.
And yes, other than the microwave and laundry, the upgrade is nice.(Room should be bigger since I booked value)
They can plan it 12 months out before anyone books it. It is called planning. But if it is emergency that is different but at bare min you do not do it during 50th, the most popular date.
So I would have it done next summer... take those rooms out now before people can book for maintenance. Or a bare min you do it when there is enough rooms to actually move people out to reasonable changes. I have been reading on facebook people who have 1 bed being ask to move to hotel room. That is a major down grade.
Yeap, that is how I understand the history of the value studio. However regarding the actual size, here is what I can find:I think your room will be the same size. Wow, that is interesting.
It was my understanding that no more deluxe rooms remaining. They were all on the 5th and 6th floors, the the 6th floor was just the rooms on the concierge wing. Essentially, DVC took the entire 5th and 6th floor. The concierge rooms used to be the larger deluxe rooms and are now just regular rooms. I don't know why there is a discrepancy between how big a value studio is supposed to be and how big the hotel rooms are. I didn't think that Disney did anything to the walls between rooms, but who knows? I think that the Dreams room layouts are wrong since there are no more bunk beds and there are no more daybeds AFAIK.Yeap, that is how I understand the history of the value studio. However regarding the actual size, here is what I can find:
value studio is 316 sq.ft. while the standard studio is 365 sq.ft
https://allears.net/walt-disney-world/wdw-accommodation/animal-kingdom-lodge-villas-fact-sheet/Hotel room size: Standard rooms are 344 square feet, while the deluxe rooms (including Concierge) are 381 square feet.

Not sure why there is a difference? Maybe it is one calculation included balcony while the other one did not?![]()
I think you might be mixing me up with someone else, because nowhere did I state that 30-40 rooms were on the 6th floor. I know exactly how many rooms are up thereAs Sandis said, it is only 10 rooms, not 30 or 40 as OP seems to imply.
They have not announced return of Club level services and lounge at Jambo. Since Jambo is finally opening though, they could be intending to try to open it in 2021. But they have stated all along, and it is on the website, if you book a club room, and club lounge is not operating, you will be refunded the difference in points of club vs standard room. So the OP is not being cheated in any way. Surely she knew the club lounge was not open when she booked it. It is too bad she is being forced to move against her will, but no shenanagins going on.
For studios it is fine and most people seem okay since they will be moving a microwave into the rooms I read but the issue is if you booked 1 bed or 2 beds I have read for some people they are moving them into hotel rooms. That is a big difference and a big down grade. In all practicality the rooms are the same size when in the same category. The club is not slated to be open so the biggest difference is the microwave. Is this the sum of it?
The problem is you take them out of service before the 11 month window and people will accuse them of doing it for reasons other than this.
Not even sure they would be allowed to do it that anyway. Unfortunately this will always be an issue when rooms need to be out of use.
So, I think they do the best they can in trying to schedule things. We simply don’t know why the schedule was what it was. It could have been that they wanted it done this past spring and it ended up being pushed back because of contractor delays
The fact that is a two plus month project means it wasn’t done for the purpose of impacting peoples plans for the 50th.
Prior to buying DVC I was booking 2 deluxe rooms because I didn’t enjoy cramming us like sardines into a hotel room even though technically we were under occupancy limits for 1 room. Are they at least moving the larger villa folks into 2 rooms for 1 br.s and 3 rooms for 2 br.s?For studios it is fine and most people seem okay since they will be moving a microwave into the rooms I read but the issue is if you booked 1 bed or 2 beds I have read for some people they are moving them into hotel rooms. That is a big difference and a big down grade.
agreed. What company in their right mind does maintenance on some of their most popular rooms at literally the most popular time in the past 10 years?
I call shenanigans.
The Club Lounge at Jambo is slated to open August 26th as it stands now, so any Club Level bookings from that date onwards would be affected. In all practicality the rooms are the same size when in the same category. The club is not slated to be open so the biggest difference is the microwave. Is this the sum of it?
They implied it's a structural issue? It’s not a renovation or DVC related. It’s a problem at the resort. I called and spoke to a nice Cast member who let me know that there will be a pretty large maintenance project that needs to be completed. After what happened in Miami I won’t be arguing any further.
