Has anyone done one of these? Am l looking to book one for the end of July in North Wales.

Just wondering if anyone had been and what their thoughts were about it?

Katie

Ps - yes I know i'm mad :rotfl:

:flower3: Hello.
I haven't done a residential Bootcamp but I do local bootcamps in parks most weeks. I have also done British Military Fitness (BMF) sessions. I perfer the bootcamp sessions as the PT tends to get to know you and know how far to push you. BMF sessions tend to be more based on putting on a bib and being part of a big group. It's less personal.

I go to the Gym and do cardio most days so it's good to supplement that with more circuit based training too. I like the fresh air and the benefits of training in an open space that classes like this bring.

I would say go for it, if my children were older I would go. I know that Groupon sometimes has special offers for Bootcamps.

It is the groupon deal I have booked - I sent the cheque this afternoon:rolleyes: I am in the gym most days and consider myself reasonably fit - however i have a real issue with food - I eat far to much and reward myself with food - ie a 5 mile run means I can have a double portion of lunch :confused3
My boss (who is mega fit) did one last year and said it was fab so decided just to go for it!! She said you are up at 6... Mid morning snack is half an apple and 2 almonds, and mid aftrrnoon you get the rest of the apple:scared1: mind u being my boss she did a 5* one..... a bit out of my league!!!

I don't like being hungry!!!!! (even if most of the time I'm not hungry.....)

:yay:

I was just reading this and thinking it sounds like something I need :rotfl2: I have never felt so unhealthy at any point in my life!

Is there nowhere you can get more info on it, or are you just wanting some personal reviews? How long is it for? (Sorry, just curiosity questions).

It is a 4 night, 5 day stay - monday to friday.

There is a fair bit on their website - bootcamp-inc - but was just wondering if anyone had actually done one.
I suspect they are all different, but the thought of being last round the field made me go to the gym at 630 this morning :rotfl:

For you - first set small realistic goals and small steps - ie - I will go for a walk 3 times this week for 1/2 hour - it doesnt have to be anything drastic just enough to get you moving. Do this for a month and by then you will be ready to move on a little.

When we set a huge weight loss or i want to be mega fit "NOW" target we get so disheartened that we give up before we have even started!

Have one less spoon of food at dinner - or replace half your potatos/rice etc with veg.

Maybe we should have a weekly exercise support thread as well as dieting one?

As soon as you get started you will feel better - good luck!!

What she said ::yes::

I've lost three stone since Oct 09. It had crept on over the time span of about ten years and two children;) I'm now a healthy size 12-14, I feel better and I would like to lose a bit more but I don't count calories/fat/carbs anymore I just eat healthily and continue to exercise and I lose on average of a pound a week. I try to go to the gym every weekday but somedays I might only do a forty min uphill walk, other days I might do body combat class which is really full on. I still get compliments from people every couple of months so I guess 6 pounds or so every now and then is still noticable.
Set yourself reallt obtainable goals and don't starve yourself (it doesn't work longterm). Sometimes you don't realise what you can actually eat, for instance I put on weight if I eat special K but not if I have one poached egg on toast every morning and it's much more filling:goodvibes

I would find a residential bootcamp really hard, perhaps in a year of so;)

That's a great idea. I do plenty of walking but that's about it. I don't have any time in my schedule to squeeze in a trip to the gym - at least not often enough to be worth anything  but plenty weights, an exercise ball and a stepper at home. THat should get me going :)

Anyone else interested?

I will start it this Monday - just to give everyone time to get in the mood :thumbsup2

Maybe you need to offer some tips for 'getting in the mood' too :lmao: Monday sounds good to me.

I usually find wine and chocolate help :rotfl::rotfl:

I couldn't agree more. You are a very wise woman. From now on I shall never question anything you say ;)

(but its not easy to run on wine....)

It depends if you drink enough to feel invincible :lmao: I did buy myself 10 organic cucumbers yesterday so I can get back into using my juicer. I have always enjoyed several glasses of fruit and/or veggie juice every day but somehow with a bit of a crazy end to the last year I very quickly dropped some good habits and picked up twice as many bad ones.

I was on holiday last year in nairn in scotland, every am there was these females came along the beach with two army type guys screaming at them, it was a boot camp I found out later after some googling, looked bloody hard, my dad and husband went along every am to watch, they thought it was very amausing! it cost a grand a week !!!!!!!

it cost a grand a week !!!!!!!

That is what my boss paid for her week - I could never afford that (well I could but I wouldnt!!!). She was already really fit before she went, but she says she has gained soo much from it that it was (almost :rotfl:) worth every penny.

I wouldnt be going - or even thinking about going - it I had to pay £1000!!!

I think my £299 is a bargain - considering I was thinking about doing a fitness weekend at Camber Sands :scared1: which would cost me nearly £200!
