Booster seats from car rental agencies???

Has anyone rented booster seats with their car rentals?

I know they are gross but we're going on a cruise and only need the booster seats for 2 one day car rentals to get to and from port and I'd rather not have to schlep them if I can avoid it.

My question--what do they consider booster seats? Are they the backless ones? Has anyone gotten there and not had car seats and then what? My kids are small for their age and even though they are 6 and 7 I still use the booster with the backs on.

LOL - you read my mind! I was going to tell you to bring your own! Since that isn't possible though I probably won't be much help. I am guessing (and this is seriously just a guess) they probably offer the backless ones. The reason this is my guess is because they are cheaper than the backed ones. I could definitely be wrong, but knowing how rental companies like to make and save money I don't see them going for a great highbacked booster.

We've been in the same situation, but I got two backless boosters for $12 each on sale at Kmart, and they're not the real wide ones. They fit fine in a duffle bag, along with the kids' life jackets and sand toys. Just a suggestion. I think the car rental companies charge way too much to rent them. And of course they're usually gross. And they also won't guarantee to have them available.

When we travel I usually pack the bottom part of the booster in a duffle or suitcase. (I use the high back at home.) I really like the backed boosters for the head support and side impact protection, but at 6 and 7 the kids will be fine in the backless for the amount of time you are talking about.
