Morning all!

I was wondering if anyone knows if I will be allowed to carry-on my son's booster seat with spirit airlines? I don't really want to rent a seat at 13.00 a day. I know I can buy one once we arrive for about $20-25 from walmart/target, but I didn't want to do that either if I can carry it on w/o a fee. I tried spirit and have gotten different answers on both phone calls to them...help:confused3

thanks!

(I hope I posted in the correct forum, wasn't sure if this should be here or in a different one)

I travel with two small kids and always bring my own car seats. We have flown Spirit a few times. We have car seat back packs and have checked them onto the plane with no problems (free) and gate checked our stroller. According to Spirit's website, you can also gate check car seats free of charge. I like the car seat back packs, as they are easier to schlep thru the airport and I have even placed jackets into the bag. Before we had the back packs, we used heavy duty garbage bags and double bagged them. Have a great trip!

I'm not a fan of checking car seats. The way the "luggage" is tossed around I would treat a checked car seat the same way I would one that has been in a car crash....damaged and not useable!

That said, we routinely take low back booster seats with us ON THE PLANE. We do NOT use them on the plane (they require a lap/shoulder belt which airplanes don't have...so they are not FAA approved for use).

The low back boosters fit easily under the seat in front of your child, or in the overhead bin.

Each ticketed passenger is allowed one carry on and one personal item. We have our kids carry their backpacks and their booster seats. The low back booster also fits within the size guidelines of a carry on as well.

You should have no problems bringing it on the plane w/ you. If asked, just tell the FA that you understand it can't be used and you will be storing it for the flight.

Dd and I flew from Philly to Oregon and the small planes we flew in and out of Oregon on even accommodated the booster seat under the seat in front of dd! :thumbsup2

We always gate check DS's no-back booster seat. We carry it to the gate, get a gate check tag and leave it at the end of the jetway. Then it isn't getting tossed around with all of the luggage that is checked. It goes on the plane last and comes off first. We pick it up when we arrive at our destination. There is also a lot less of a chance of it getting lost. We have carried it on before and thrown it in the overhead bin, but it is just as easy to gate check it.
