Does anyone know the Florida laws on booster seats? I know some states require booster seats for children under 5 while others require it for children 4 and under or at least 40 or 50 pounds.

I don't know what Florida law is, but I just saw a new poster at the preschool that says booster seats are recommended for all children under 4'9". My DS8 is about 4'3" and weighs 60 lbs. - we keep him in a booster at all times. It was complimentary with our Town Car so I ordered one.

Seat belts are designed to secure adults - not children. I feel better having him in a booster so the belt fits properly. :D

ALL CHILDREN 5 YEARS OLD OR YOUNGER MUST USE A RESTRAINT DEVICE WHEN RIDING IN A MOTOR VEHICLE.
The law requires every driver to secure children five years of age or younger in child restraint devices riding in a passenger car, van, or pick-up truck, regardless of whether the vehicle is registered in this state. Infant carriers or children's car seats must be used for children three years old and younger. Children's car seats or safety belts may be used for four- and five-year-olds.

Do what's best for you and your family.

Fl is one of the few states that dosen't require a booster and only requires a CSR until age three.

4. What is Florida's Child Restraint Law?

All children 5 years of age or younger must be properly restrained no matter where they are sitting in the vehicle. Children through age 3 must be secured in a separate carrier or a vehicle manufacturer's integrated child safety seat. For children aged 4 through 5 years, a separate carrier, an integrated child safety seat, or a safety belt may be used. (FL Statute 316.613).
