We can only go to the parks on Monday and Tuesday... Which I anticipate will be great for crowds... bad for entertainment :(

No Fireworks
No Fantasmic!
No elecTRONica

...

At least there's World of Color... :thumbsup2

Ahhh the downside of the off season! If you must go on the weekdays wait til after Memorial Day weekend... the fireworks happen every night!

We love the week days during the summer, the off season provides some many things not going on.

yeah summmer time the parks do parades and stuff during the week and stay open later and also show fantasmic.. soo like jack said summer is better.

That first week in June is awesome! Not all schools are out yet, but the summer schedule has started :)

Is it possible to sneak in on Sunday evening to catch a couple of the shows?

Fireworks and fantasmic both begin showing nightly on March 13. Less than one month away.:thumbsup2

So we can expect Fantasmic & fireworks on weeknights starting in March? Is this a temporary change in schedule for Spring Break, or will this schedule be in effect in May?

It's for Spring Break. I would not at all expect it to be like that in May. Sorry.

I have to admit this is one of those things that make visiting DL hard for a WDW vet.

But I know it's amazing in and of itself in many other ways. :thumbsup2

Nah, it's all booked and it's for our Spring Break ( first week of March ) so there's nothing I can do to change it... Oh well, I would have "liked" to see the difference between the two Fantasmics... and I can live without the fireworks show. But I'm glad I'll get to see WOC

( My son would have liked elecTRONica... oh well again :) ) ...

don't get me wrong, I know there's ***LOTS*** more to see. This isn't an "overall" dissapointment post :D :cool1:

The entertainment schedule makes it hard to visit DLR?

It's pretty consistent. During "peak" and summer seasons, the shows are run nightly. During "off season", the shows are run on weekends. If you want to see them, then plan the dates accordingly.

I agree with you, if you're well acquainted with DLR policy. But the PP said that it's one of the things that makes it difficult for a WDW vet. And she has a very good point. WDW entertainment generally runs nightly, year round. If you're used to that, you may not think to check whether DLR has a different policy for their entertainment schedule.

Thanks Bob.

As a vet I do know to plan my days accordingly, but the DL calendar does not post as far out in advance as the WDW one does. Luckily, seeing (or missing) a show or a parade does not affect my enjoyment of visiting Disneyland.

DLR29: I was merely voicing my experience of planning a trip to DL as opposed to planning for WDW. I know that DL vets find planning for a WDW trip daunting as there is almost too much information.

I continue to be amazed that Aladdin shows so few days per week. It was a nightmare last year trying to schedule our days so we could see that show and still get to Indy before it closed for refurb. When we planned our days originally, the Indy refurb wasn't on the calendar yet.

At least I know now that as I approach our trip, there are certain things to be mindful of. Most who go to WDW don't know to anticipate these things. The limited schedules may work great for you lucky ones with some flexibility and opportunity to return again if you miss something. For those buying plane tickets months in advance, it can be a real pain.

I have never been to WDW although it may be in the future someday. I have been to DL 30+ times and when we go is pretty flexible, but I'll tell you those "last minute" schedules don't work for me. I wish DL put their schedule out 6 months in advance like WDW does. By the time schedules come out our plane tickets will be purchased and vacation insurance doesn't cover they aren't doing the show I wanted.

LOL! Wouldn't it be nice if it did!

I switched days around so many times last summer that we ended up missing canceling one of the nights we had booked at the Grand Canyon Lodge (and paying for it!) We were juggling the ever moving last day of school (a moving target because of make-up snow days) the AP blocked days, the opening day of WOC (which I wanted to avoid) and the last minute curve-ball closing of Indy for refurb. It was a scheduling mess. We had fun, but man........

I know a lot of people on these boards are frequent visitors to DL,but not everyone. Most people don't know that DL is different than WDW and why would they? I personally know of two families going to DL in March who have no idea about the shows, parades or refurbs. They just assume that everything will be operational and don't know about off season.
A little more patience for those asking questions would be nice;)

And many people don't know what is considered "in season" and "out of season". We went the first week of June last year AFTER Memorial day AFTER school let out and I had no idea it was still out of season and time for a major ride like Indy to be shut down for refurbishment.

Fair enough. As a DLR vet, if I were to go to WDW, I would spend a lot of time asking questions about the various differences between WDW and DLR.

And although most people don't, it only takes a little bit of research and question-asking on these boards to learn about DLR's quirks and save some stress in the planning stages.
