Aloha,

Would greatly appreciate recommendations for books about how Walt Disney started and built his business empire. From the start through Disneyland which led to WDW which led to eventually buying ABC/ ESPN, etc...Realize Walt passed away around 1966 but what he started has led to the Disney empire we now know.

I've read both of these and thought they were very good:

This is also a great book:

ALso, if you get a chance and are in San Francisco, a visit to the Walt Disney Family Museum is a MUST-SEE. I just went for the first time last month (I live in the Bay Area) and it was AMAZING.

My favorite Walt book is written is sort of a self-help style. It's called How to be Like Walt. It goes through his entire life of ups and downs and set backs and then discusses how he tackles them. At the end of each chapter there is a paragraph that points out the traits and beliefs that helped him through the challenges written about in that chapter.

I also just picked up a small production movie about the first part of his life called As Dreamer Do. I heard about it on a podcast and wanted to support the effort. It was $10 at Walmart. The acting isn't the best (mostly at the beginning of the movie) but overall it was interesting.

And ditto on the Disney Family Museum idea if possible.
