I have now accounted for all this use year's points with the reservations I have made. I want to make 2 bookings for the 2005 use year as soon as the 11 month window arrives. Will I be told I have to borrow points from 2005 use year to make these reservations, or as the bookings are both for the 2005 use year will the points just come from that year when we use them.

It is probbaly a silly question but previously when booking, I have usually had some points left in the use year to cover it.

MS will check to see that you have enough points good for those days, then they will allocate those points to your ressie. So, as long as you will have the points when you travel, you are fine.

If it is before your use years starts then they will be borrowed from 2005, if it is after then it will just be a normal reservation.

And if you don't have enough points, you can borrow from 2006 to make 2005 use year reservations.

Still a bit unclear here. The reservation will be made before the use year starts to take advantage of the 11 month window. Does the above mean that if for some reason we have to cancel the reservation and couldn't go till the 2006 use year, we will lose the points because they were borrowed as we were booking before the 2005 use year had started?

I'm sorry to be thick about this but I don't want to risk losong the points.

If the reservation is made before the 2005 use year, AND the actual stay will be before the start of the 2005 UY then if you have to cancel, you have until the end if the current UY to use or lose the points.

However if the reservation is made before the start of the 2005 use year, AND the actual stay is after the start of the 2005 UY, then those points will come from the current (2005) UY, and can be used until the end of that 2005 UY, or banked to 2006 as long as you follow the banking dead lines.

You do NOT have to have the points in your account when booking a reservation, but you must have them when you will be using them.

Hope this helps.

You nailed it exactly!

If, for example, you have a 300pt contract with an April UY, and are looking at making two reservations of 150pts each for dates after April 1, 2005, no borrowing is required. As of April 1, 2005 you will have enough current points to cover both ressies. The only time you would have to borrow points (from your 2006 UY) is if you didn't have enough in your 2005 UY to make both reservations. As others have said - it doesn't matter when you make the reservations, it only matters when you make the reservations for .

Hmm, looks like Bill and I posted almost simultaneously.

Ching - sound of penny dropping!

Thank you all.
