Booking window & Check-out date

Can someone clarify this for me? My initial understanding when we first became members was that when figuring your booking window, you used the number date of your check-out (i.e; Sept. 12 check-out would be Oct. 12 booking window).

However, one day I called (before my window) just to see what availability looked like, and the MS person I was speaking with seemed to be telling me that the procedure is 11 months AFTER your check-out date - meaning that the above example would change to Oct. 13.

Is this correct, or is this another MS situation where not everyone has the same understanding? Help!

You are correct.

That CM is probably just used to people who give the date of the last night they are staying. If so, then the booking window would be the day after that last night - or in other words, 7/11 months from the actual check out date. That CM was either misinformed or not really listening to what you were saying/asking.

Again, you have the correct understanding of the booking windows.

Maybe the confusion is with the check-in date. If you check in on Sept 8th and want to do a day by day, the first day you could call is October 9th because Sept 8th would checkout Sept 9th.

While the 11/7 month windows apply to the check-out date, there are instances when you can book "<b> earlier</b>".

This is in a case where there is no corresponding date at the 11/7 month window.

From my copy of the Member's Guidelines

The 'corresponding date' is the date of checkout for the desired reservation; if checkout is to occur on June 25th, then the corresponding date is the 25th. If there are no dates that correspond directly to the reservation checkout date, then the last day of the month is when reservations may be requested. For example, a Member who wishes to checkout on January 31, xxxx may request that reservation on February 28, xxxx.

My DVC Planner computer program calculates all booking windows for 11/7 months, and day by day if desired, based on your actual vacation dates and the above stated end of month application

While Caskbill is 100% correct, I seem to recall a bug in the MS system that doesn't allow you to do that. You have to wait till the 1st to reserve those days without corrosponding dates.

Am I dreaming?

Maybe it was only leap year, or maybe it was that leap year let you do other things.

Rich,

I can confirm that MS does not allow the booking to happen until the 1st is the situation listed. Since there is no Feb 29,30,or31 the system has a hic-cup that does not allow the booking to happen until March 1st.
