Hi,

We would love to stay at VGC in either a 1 or 2 bedroom. For those of you have had success booking at VGC, how did you do it? I've tried looking over on the DVC section of the DIS - but, I'm just not sure how to go about it. :confused3

I know that's its probably too late to try to get something for this December, right? Any advice?

TIA :goodvibes

Are you a DVC member? If not you could try David's rentals on the Dis DVC board?

You need to find someone to rent you points and make a reservation for you. David's rental is usually $14 a point I think. So you need to look at a points chart and see the dates and how many points you would need.

Or you can go to the DVC section where people are renting out points and find a VGC owner who can see if anything is available. They usually rent there for $10-12 a point. It's alot harder to get into VGC unless you own there or are going off season since there aren't alot of rooms. We have reservations in December but I booked at 11 months out since we are owners. Good luck.

As a DVC member who is staying at the VGC in December I can tell you I had to wake up and be online right at 8am in order to get a 1 bedroom. I was all set to get a studio and it literally got booked as I was hitting submit to book the studio. December is 100% full including the Grand Villas. Your best bet is booking at the 7 month window or renting points from someone who has the VGC as their home resort, in which case they can book at 11 months out.

Hi-

I figured it was probably a long-shot...I posted over on the DVC rent board, just in case someone has a reservation. Now that our kids are adults - with work and college schedules, it's really so hard to plan 7 or 11 months in advance!

Boy, do I miss those days when they were in elementary school & we could just take a quick trip to DL!

I totally hear you on that! even though we ARE DVC owners it still is hard to plan! Our ENTIRE scheduling of ALL vacations are centered around my 15 yr old son's high school band schedule!! When they were little they used to be on year round calendar. Sooo nice!! we could take them during off season during the day but NOW no more. Well at least I don't have to watch them in the park all day!! Just feed them n' send them on their way!!

The DIS allows posters to post "Reservation Wanted" messages? Or are you talking about Mouse Owners . com ?

As you are discovering the VGC is difficult to book at the 7 month window. Hopefully the rumors of a second DVC resort in Anaheim are true as that would ease the burden on VGC.

I had not heard this rumor but if true it makes me very happy!! We just bought DVC this past March and living on the West Coast it would be nice to have something a little closer to our shorter trips!!

There are actually a few nights open here and there in December for different sized units, but there are no two consecutive nights. We are GCV owners and it really is an advantage to have that booking window. That, or you need to be quick on the draw when that 7 month window opens.

Yeah we tried to rent points for a one or two-bed for our trip. Started looking in late-May/early-June for ANY 5 nights in September, October or November and were basically laughed at. (Not rudely, just in a 'You gotta be kidding' kind of way.) Live and learn. Maybe next time.

Well, just as you said, no luck for us! We do have reservations at GCH for our September trip (without our kids). I was hoping to stay at VGC for our family trip in Dec because we really would like the extra space. With 2 adult DSs (both over 6'), we really need to book 2 rooms & that really blows my budget. My DH only will stay onsite (he's an "on-site hotel snob").

I guess I'll contine to monitor the DVC sites for confirmed reservations, just in case something becomes available. :goodvibes

Have you considered switching to PPH? We normally stay GCV, but PPH is always our back up. Last trip we were upgraded to a 1br suite. I have no clue what they charge for them, but it is probably less than 2 GCH rooms. There is a living room area with an L shaped couch that is a pullout and a table with 4 chairs. The bedroom area has two queen beds. The best part is that there are 2 bathrooms. It might be worth looking into and staying across the street only adds 5 more minutes to your walk. Concierge might also be something you want to look into at PPH as it normally isn't a huge increase like it is at GCH. With two boys, you would get your money's worth! Based on current prices on their website, you could get a concierge theme park view room at PPH for less than the current rate listed for the GCH.

Hi

I would definetly consider PPH! I never thought of a suite. I'll look into it. Wonder if they would have any AP rates too? Thanks for the advice :)

Back in the good old days we were lucky enough to get PPH concierge on the $169 per night AP rate. I would think they would offer AP rates for the suites. It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask!
