We are planning a trip for late 2022. We will need to book two rooms including one for me and my DH and one rooM for My DD and her DH which are young adults. Do I book these rooms as two separate reservations numbers each as a package with rooms and tickets. Can I link these reservations in MDE.So if fast passes return I can book them for all four people together. I noticed the room rates were lower for two people in a room versus four In a room. If these are booked as two separate rooms can I request that they are on same floor.

In the past we always just booked one room with four people but I think the time has come for two rooms. And do I request rooms on same floor?
Regarding the price: For more than 2 adults in the room, extra adults 18 and over are charged an extra fee per night that varies depending on deluxe, mod, value.

I'm slightly confused, so you're saying you need two rooms and you're asking if you should book two rooms? You can't book two rooms at the same time - you would need to go with a 2 bedroom villa to do something like that. They would need to be separate.

You can always request adjoining rooms if that's what you're looking for. The requests are never guaranteed but they try to make them happen.

I was just asking if I needed to book one room with tickets and then book the second room with tickets Or if there was a way two book two rooms at one time. It appears that I will need to book one package and then the other package and then link the two reservations through MDE.

You can't put 2 rooms in your cart at once. You have to do one room first, listing who is staying in that room. If you want to include tickets, it's a package and you pay a $200 deposit. If you don't want tickets, it's a room only reservation and you pay for the first night plus tax. Repeat the process for the second room. You will have 2 different confirmation numbers and 2 separate reservations. If you would like connecting rooms, indicate that on both reservations. There's an option for it when you check out. The balance of a package is due 30 days before the trip. The balance on a room only reservation is due at check in.
If you are signed in to MDE when you make the reservations, you shouldn't have to link anything. It should be automatic, and yes, you will be able to make fastpasses for all 4 of you (if that program returns as it was previously) , as well as dining reservations. Make sure that you make a profile for each person in your account, or connect with them through friends and family if they have their own accounts, before you make the reservations. If you've traveled to WDW together in the past, you've probably already done this.

Edited to add:
If you don't want connecting rooms but want to be close to each other, there's a place to request that as well at check out. I think the way it is worded gives a choice of adjoining or near by. Then you put in the name of the lead person for the other reservation. You have to do it on both reservations. It's only a request not a guarantee. We've had it work out most of the time but once we were pretty far apart although on the same floor.

Also, you asked in the original post why the price is higher with 4 in the room. They charge for extra adults in the room after the first 2.

You can book two rooms at one time if you call reservations. They can give you two rooms. It is called a multiple room reservation. But if you want to book online then you will have to make separate reservations. :)
