I am going to Disney in spring 2006. I am currently looking around and wondering who to book through? Has anyone had any experience with booking a Disney vacation through Expedia or Travelocity? Any help would be much appreciated!!! :earboy2:

We are leaving on April 8th for Disney All Star Movie resort, booked for 20 some dollars cheaper a night then the disneyworld.com quoted price.... I am planning on calling tomorrow to make some adjustments to our reservations... Just adding one more night... I'll let you know if we run into any problems with that or with our stay....

Sooo Excited......

I would look carefully at Expedia's cancellation policy. If you book room only with Disney or an online travel agency like www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com, you will be able to cancel a week before your trip with no penalty. You also only have to pay a one night deposit in advance.

I tell you after I come back from my upcomming trip in the end of April. I booked my flight through them back in December and got a great deal. $135.00 a person round trip with all taxes, fees, etc, comming out of Chicago non stop and noon time flights! It pays to book in advance.

I first tried booking my resort through Disney but they didn't have any rooms at the Poly except for CGV or CGV and that was a little beyond my budget. So after calling back CRO a dozen times I finally went with Expedia and they had the rooms I wanted. After booking with them, I called Expedia direct to make sure they had the rooms and so far I'm impressed with the service. I'm hoping that there will be no problems "like we have to move you to another resort because we are over booked". Expedia assured me that I have a room at the Poly booked and I admit I'm a little nervous but I think everything will be all right. I don't want to stay anyplace else but at the Poly because that is a major part of our Disney vacation. I'll tell you how everything went when I get back.

In 2006 I'm going to use DU for the Disney cruise my family want's to go on. There just too much at stake to trust anyone who isn't familiar with the Disney cruise line. :moped:

I have used Expedia for years to book Disneyland vacations and vacations to other destinations. I have always hesitated to use them for WDW because I read on this board awhile back about people having problems with Expedia calling them at the last minute and saying they could not honor the WDW resort reservation due to lack of availablity. By then it was too late for this person to rebook through Disney as all rooms were gone. I prefer booking through a travel agent who knows Disney like Small World Travel or Dreams Unlimited. They do the legwork, check for codes and will even make your priority seatings. Also when you use Expedia you pay the whole thing up front regardless of how far out it is. Expedia's cancellation policy has always been 4 days when I've used them. I have cancelled before and never had any trouble getting them to refund my money in a timely manner. I still use them just not for WDW because Small World has always gotten me a better deal!

I hope that doesn't happen to me. I'll admit that I'm a little scared about my two rooms at the Poly and this has made me even more nervous! What will happen if they do this to me? For the money I paid I better get a monorail resort or my vacation is ruined. I've been waiting on the Poly for about a year now and would be crushed if I can't get it. Please tell me I'm going to be OK. I booked the rooms months ago for April 29th to May 4th. This really has me worried. :earseek:

Disneyfan67: I am sorry I freaked you out! I have always had nothing but good luck with them. I have used them for booking the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier for Disneyland vacations, no problem. I have also used them for airfare and done a couple of packages to Marco Island Florida. All with no problems. I just remember reading a post about somebody who used them for WDW and got a call shortly before the trip from Expedia saying that their reservation couldn't be honored or some such thing. This must have been a very isolated incident or a bunch of people with similar experiences would have posted on this thread! I also think it was for an extremely busy time of year like Christmas. If I were you I would call WDW and see if they have a record of the reservation. I now always do that when I use them for the Disneyland resorts and the hotel front desks check and verify that my reservation exists. For WDW, their reservation system is much larger so I don't know how they can check for you but I assume they can. Also, call the Poly directly maybe the day you are to check in and verify that they have your room ready etc. I am sure you will be fine, that cannot be a common thing or Expedia would be out of business! After all, lots of people have horror stories about CRO messing up their reservations as well. I do recommend however using a travel agent like Small World in the future for the convenience if nothing else. Also I always know that if I have some sort of problem with my WDW room my agent Barbara will deal with it so I don't have to! You can get a quote from Small World or Dreams Unlimited, maybe they can get you a room at the Poly for your dates cheaper than Expedia. Have a great trip and again, sorry my post made you uneasy!

:earsgirl: I just adjusted my reservation on a trip booked through Expedia. While I tried to contact the resort first to change the reservation the women who I spoke with, though very helpful, told me she could not adjust my stay dates because they were through a third party. She was however very helpful with my questions related to the park and my stay. It then took me just a few moments to contact Expedia and have my additional day added to my existing reservation. I have to stay off these boards... My two night three day trip to WDW has turned into a full week because you all are making it soooo exciting. I haven’t been since I was 4, roughly 18 years ago.... I feel like a kid all over again. I will report back on any Expedia issues when I return but I don't want to think about coming home, I haven't even left yet... :earsgirl:

When I was searching and comparing rates, I found Expedia to be more expensive than Disney. Are you a AAA member? You can book through them as well to save more $.
