Booking through Disney vs Orbitz

You change your address on the page where you customize your Magic Bands. There is an option to edit your address there.

This is an Orbitz / Cheaptickets glitch and not a third party broker issue. Hotels.com/expedia.com, and Travelocity.com have no problems handling children on the reservation.
Correct. Don't pay extra for your kids on Orbitz! Book the adults online, then call to add the kids for free. I did it. It works.

Have you figured out how to change the address that Disney has for you to you home address (instead of ORBITZ address) for Magic bands?

Yup! It was the first thing I did. We just bought our party and park tickets and linked them in MDE. Just 2 days to go until we can book our FP+ options!

OK, I'm confused. I booked my room through Orbitz and then called to add my two kids to the reservation. The Orbitz rep took the information, put me on hold for a while, and then came back and said that the reservation could not be modified, and that I could only add my kids by canceling the room and rebooking it with them listed.

Obviously, I don't want to do this, since I'd lose the discount I booked with, and they would then charge for the kids when I rebooked. Did I just get a lousy customer service rep, or is there some other step I'm missing here?

Also, when I asked the rep for my 12-digit Disney Reservation Number, he initially had no idea what I was talking about, but eventually told me he could not provide that number, and that I would have to get it from Disney. This does not seem to match others' experiences.

Suggestions?

You got a lousy rep. Two ideas: First, try an online chat. I got it done that way. Or Two, call Disney directly, and give them your 6-digit "hotel confirmation code". It seems some Disney CMs are willing to make the change without hearing directly from Orbitz.

This process kinda stinks, but I think it's worth it :)

Just to clarify- your receipt should have two confirmation numbers. The Orbitz Record Locator should be long- like 12 digits. You should also have a Hotel Confirmation Number. That second number is Disney's- it is importable into My Disney Experience.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try both online chat with Orbitz and, if that doesn't work, will call Disney directly.

Just as a quick update for anyone else having trouble adding kids, I apparently was not smart enough to figure out how to to online chat with Orbitz (as suggested above), so I just tried calling them again. I got a different Orbitz representative, and she actually knew what I was talking about.

She called the hotel, added my kids to the reservation, and gave me my 12-digit Disney Reservation Number.

A few minutes later, I went into MDX and looked at my reservations. The hotel reservation had a warning that the guests had been changed, and I needed to confirm the change, but when I went into the reservation, it all showed up correctly, including my two kids. All I had to do was click confirm/OK.

Good- i'm glad it worked! Now if they could only just fix the glitch online... that would make the most sense to me.

May not be a glitch. May be a money making scheme. I just priced out three trips for 2 adults, and 2 adults and 1 child. Locations, were Atlanta, GA, Gatlinburg, TN and Honululu, HI. All three trips were the same price for either 2 adults or 2 adults and a 7-year-old child. :rolleyes1 Hmmmmmmmm

I have a question. I already have my FP+ made and I wanted to switch resorts, the only way to get the resort I want is through Orbitz. If I book through Orbitz and then link it to my account and then cancel through Disney will I lose my FP+'s? Thanks for the help.

Did you book a package with Disney or just room only and buy tickets separately? If you have a package, you would need to purchase separate tickets and link them BEFORE canceling your package. If you do that, your FP "should" remain intact. I say "should" because, well, MDE is super glitchy!!!

I booked room only and then ordered my tickets and they linked them to my account. So I "should" be alright if I book through Orbitz and then put in that number make sure it is linked and then cancel right? When I call to cancel should I tell them I booked through Orbitz? Would that make a difference? Thanks for your help.

Correct. I don't think it will make a difference. I would book through Orbitz, link that res, then call and cancel the other res.

It really just depends on whether the hotel in question charges extra for more than two adults. Some do and some don't. Orbitz has the same problem with Universal Orlando hotels, which also charge extra for more than 2 adult guests per room. But they don't have the problem for Disneyland hotels, because Disneyland doesn't charge more for extra adults.
