Can anyone tell me if there are any advantages of booking your cruise through DCL? Is the treatment you receive (in the ressie process) any different than if you went through a TA? I just wanted to put the question out there to see everyone opionons!

Thanks!

An interesting question. We've booked all 3 of our cruises directly with DCL. The first time because the cruise was still a future thing and none of our local TAs wanted to book it! Then as CC members we just used that 800 number and it was great because they had all of the past information in the computer.

Beyond that not sure about advantages. Just has been good for us so we didn't fool with a good thing. Others have raved about DU. And there are plenty of horror stories about TAs that didn't follow through well. Guess it comes down to personal preference.

Actually, I think you're better off booking thru a TA such as DU. DU will watch for price decreases and will get you the better rate if the price goes down; DCL won't tell you about price decreases. DU frequently has rebates and onboard gifts if a certain number of familes are booked with them on a particular cruise. We had no problem getting our CC credit either using DU - that extra $200 paid for a couple of rounds of Bingo!

One advantage might be booking a guaranteed "category" versus a guaranteed room assignment. DCL may have more "flexibility" to upgrade you to a better category.

I do not know if and independent TA can do this or not?

We booked through DCL, and recently got 2 of 4 rooms in our party upgraded from category 8 to category 6, and DCL reduced the price by $1700 so far (Florida residents discount). I'm waiting for the 60-day point to check on the other two rooms.

I've booked 3 directly thru DCL and have had good experiences. The last was the cancelled Magic of Nov. 02. The couple that were sailing with us used a TA. DCL contacted us directly to inform us of the cancellation then tried to call their TA (it was the night before Thanksgiving they had to here it from the news and myself) I have recieved our 50% off vouchers and they haven't as of yet. It is going thru their TA. Disney offered me an "upgrade" 6 weeks prior to our trip that we accepted. The other couple was not called. They did get the upgrade due to them "piggybacking" our reservations. Good luck
