I’m not too sure about that. Yes waiting to book dining reservations is not costing them anything but when other systems go done $$ is certainly lost. Do you remember the AWS that took out a lot of companies? Disney was hit big time with that one.His company was in the finance sector so having servers down for even a few seconds cost big money and heads rolled, when Disney servers go down the audience waits for it to come back up, money isn't really lost.
Absolutely not lol. That rumor sounds like they have a mess on their hands. So how many of you will get up early again tomorrow morning "just in case" and how many will just wait for Disney to release more info about this mess?
From the fact that different parts of the website can go down at different times, the app can work when the website doesn't and vice versa, I would say their systems are probably pretty siloed so yea, one restaurant launch failed and brought the website down for a bit but it didn't stop business completely, phone reservations were still working.I’m not too sure about that. He’s essentially a mouthpiece for the company. If you don’t follow him, you should. Literally every Disney news site is just aggregating his Twitter posts most of the time.I don’t follow Scott Gustin - what is his source that a new date will be shared later or that the new booking date will be next week? The info on the Disney site & in the app just says it won’t be today and to check back for updates.
I'm sure there was a Microsoft problem too but I'm referring to AWS which is what much of Disney is run on or at least at they time they did. From the fact that different parts of the website can go down at different times, the app can work when the website doesn't and vice versa, I would say their systems are probably pretty siloed so yea, one restaurant launch failed and brought the website down for a bit but it didn't stop business completely, phone reservations were still working.
That was not an AWS problem, that was a Microsoft security update problem, nothing to do with storage, and I remember it quite well since DH is now in the Healthcare sector and it was all hands on deck to make sure systems could work so patients didn't die. Honestly even though every company seems to be pushing to go to the cloud I would be a little surprised if Disney did since it costs more to do that, the upside is you only pay for what you use instead of having redundant storage space just incase and it's on AWS to fix things when they break. The truth is most big companies develop their own products/apps/systems in house because they have very specific needs and quite a lot of that has to be locally stored, AWS is good for a lot of things but it is not a catch all (which is what DH has to explain to directors and VPs quite often).
Ah yes, I see what you were talking about now. I'll point out that I believe payment processing for Disney is done by third parties as most companies do since the infrastructure needed for that is pretty crazy and those processors service a lot of business which would explain why so many were affected if they use the cloud. Everything else makes complete sense to have in AWS as it's seems like basic data packet retrieval. Ask if A is true or false and it comes back with an answer. For how expensive AWS is I will give them that they have a fantastic track record, that instance is a small blip in overall up time.I'm sure there was a Microsoft problem too but I'm referring to AWS which is what much of Disney is run on or at least at they time they did.

Nobody here did kinda sounds like only some bloggers and bots were successful. Does leave one wondering how those bloggers got so lucky![]()
Did ADR dining reservations open normally this morning?
I had some issues getting in today. I needed to modify a dining reservation I have coming up in a few weeks and the site crashed a few times before I was able to get in.Did ADR dining reservations open normally this morning?
