Answers to some of your questions are: the reason that the cat. 1-3 are sold out already at 8 am this morning is that ... I thought you all knew, that you can fax your requests in to DCL months / years before they go on sale.

I know that 1 of the cat. 3's went to a family that faxed in the request for Christmas week 2004, back in 2001. They were first on the list.

I faxed in my cat 3 request a week ago, but I was still too late.

So, fax in those requests for 2005 cruises now!!!

David,

You are so right about faxing in a request. We have a request in for a Cat 1 anytime during the summer in 2005. I wish I would have thought enough in advance to submit a request for Dec 2004. DH and I are so bad about doing things at the last minute. Oh well, I guess a Cat 4 will have to do if we don't get a Cat 3 off the wait list.

Couldn't resist...just be happy with your Cat 4. We have 4 kids and can't even afford the Cat 10 to go. So enjoy and know that at least you are sailing!!:(

Feel free to delete this post if it's not appropriate, but I thought I'd let you know... All Seasons Travel is offering a $200 on board credit on the 12/18 10 day cruise if you book before 7/15. Still too expensive for us.

(sigh) Too much for me. I would *almost* be able to justify the cost if it were cruising over Christmas AND New Year's. Guess they had to split them up, eh? LOL.

We have our favorite cabin on hold as well, category 6. Since our DD will be 13 for this cruise, we had a price jump! Anyone want to rent some DVC points? LOL I had planned on using about 600 points for a November 2004 cruise, but we are going to try for this instead. If anyone going has a daughter around age 13, please PM me. They will have plenty of time to get acquainted by e-mail!Edited to say that I think Dreams Unlimited has the same $200 credit.

If this helps, here is the amount to save per day for the 10 day cruise.

Using the info above for category costs, if you save the following amount per day from now until the cruise sails, you will pay for a 2 adult 1 child cruise:

Cost of Cruise............ Save perDay
Cat 11 - $5,090.05.... $ 9.30 per day
Cat 10 - $5,370.05....... 9.81
Cat 9 - $6,090.05....... 11.12
Cat 7 - $7,690,.05...... 14.05
Cat 6 - $7,970.05....... 14.56

See, That isn't so bad is it?

Jim, don't forget to add another few dollars a day for your on-board account! That would be excursions, tips, drinks, and shopping. We've decided to start on that now, too. Diana

DancinD:

I had thought about it, but didn't originally since that can vary, but:

For every six hundred dollars of tips, shopping, excursions, etc. one only need to:

add $1 per day to the above amounts.

It is amazing to think that if you save only about $12/day from now until next december you and two people can go on a 10 day cruise christmas after this!

Now if only we can talk child #2 out of going! :)

Looking at it that way, it's not as overwhelming.
Of course, I've already prepped the kids. They want to go, but know it's $$$$ and we may cancel. I've told them "when we're at a store and you're whining about getting a toy, think about if you'd rather have that toy or if you'd rather we put that money towards the 10 day cruise!"

Of course, they didn't think about the fact that they NEVER get the toy if they whine for it anyway!!! ;)

ok now take 60 days out of the mix and then see how much it is as the balance is due 60 days prior to the sail date
will have to wait to see how we do for a tax refund ....

Us too. I also may be delaying my long hoped for patio room. Hmmmm.

Hi TnRobin, We also booked a Cat 10 Secret Porthole for the 10 day 2004 X-mas sailing. I will be traveling with my DH, DD(age 7.5. time of cruise) and DS(3.5 time of cruise). I just joined the Disboards and have found it to be a wonderful insight into the DCL. We are sailing for the first time with DCL on 8/24/03. My DD is counting down the days. My son who just turned 2 will not be with us on this crusie. I felt he was to young to get the Disney Magic. I got a great price for the cat 10 secret porthole. We went through Cruise 411.com and paid 6,133.00 no insurance or transportation.
That is for two adults and two children. We have used them several times on other cruises and they were wonderful to deal with.
I hope to meet you on the cruise. Gail 1771:earsboy: :Pinkbounc

Is the 12/18 cruise sold out? None of the web sites I've visited mention it, including DCL, Dreams Unlimited, Cruise 411 or All Season's Travel. Forgive me if I missed this someplace else on the thread. Thanks
