Booking SSR or OKW, fall or spring?

Hi DVCers! We're fairly new to DVC, having completed our first trip to SSR in Oct 2008. It was great, we had a 2BR unit which we shared with some friends who came down with us. On that trip, we borrowed our Dec UY 2008 points. So now we have 4 points from 2008 which I've banked into 2009. So if I'm looking at things correctly, in Dec 2009, I'll have 124 points available.
We're looking at booking a trip in either May / June 2010, or Oct / Nov 2010 at SSR or OKW. Can anyone comment on the differences between the two timeframes with respect to WDW (i.e. weather, crowd levels?) Will I have an issue trying to book a 2BR SSR or OKW in May / June since it's 7-8 months out?
Also, will the 4 banked points I have be used up first in the reservation if I don't end up using all 124 available points?

As far as booking OKW or SSR at the seven month window you should be fine so I wouldn't worry about that. If you could go either time I would pick Oct/Nov. The weather will be nicer and the crowds should be lower. We also own at SSR and really like OKW. The size of the 1bdrm is huge and it really is a nice resort. Good luck.

We have never had a problem booking SSR or OKW in Oct. We have gone in the fall for the past few years and love that time of year. It extends our summer a bit (we are from upstate NY).

I love the food and wine fest, and as a golfer staying at SSR & OKW is absolutely perfect. We have always had great luck with the crowds too - although last year it was the busiest we had seen for October.

My only recommendation is that if you have a day planned for EPCOT, make it during mid-week if possible. I think the F&W fest draws a big local crowd for Fri, Sat & Sun.

Thanks! We have yet to stay in OKW, and are considering it this time just for a change. Can we book SSR @ the 11 month window and then at 7 months try to change out for OKW? Can anyone comment on the differences between the two resorts?

Yes you canbook SSR and then switch to OKW at 7 months. As for the differences, OKW is a smaller resort which IMO makes it easier to get around. Also the rooms are much bigger (or appear to be). We have only stayed there once, but we loved it.
