Hi, we have just booked our stay for 2005 at Pop Century (yay!). I did this in two different bookings as the first three nights were at the higher season rate & the last seven then fell in the value season (by the way does anyone else think it is a bit sneaky that they charge the whole stay at the first night rate? Does it work the other way if you go from value to high season? Anyway- getting off track). My question is that I was advised that due to the two seperate bookings that we may have to change rooms. Has anyone ever had to do this? I don't see it as a big deal, just an inconvenience, but I am quite curious about it. Thanks..........

Generally NO... The reservations are usually flagged by the reservations center as Continuing reservation. The hotel will look for that... When you check in make sure you tell the front desk CM that you have 2 reservations and would like to be in the same room. This is not an issue as long as it is the same category of room. The only thing is that the computer does not know that you are the same people so you will have to check out and check back in to the system. (You will not have to leave the room or anything like that it is simply for the computer). So on the day that you are due to check out of the first reservations and into the second you will need to stop by the front desk and re-register... they will give you new door keys and have you sign a new registration card and you will be on your way.

One thing that you will need to do is go to Quest Relations everyday to ensure that the you will be allowed to stay in the same room. Do not take the word of anyone: anticpate having to move, since the Disney room computer system is so fickle that there is no telling what will happen.
Be sure to go to the counter the night before your first booking expires and then be at the counter again first thing (relatively speaking of coarse) the next morning.
I have done all this and still had to move, just because the computer (and some invisible CM) stated that it was so.
Yet on the last trip at the ASMovies CM Barry made it happen, and although I never got the adjoining room (let alone building) that my sister was in, he did make it happen that I could stay in the one room for my second reservation.
Just like you did, our reservations were made because of the price change four days into the last trip, with a final eight days on the second reservation. (Also make sure that your deposit for the second reservation is allocated to your bill, mine was not and that took four days to resolve).

All the best, I know that you will have a great Disney adventure.

We had a split reservation at the CBR. I notified them when we checked in. She said that we would not have to switch rooms and even asked us what time in the morning would we like the new keys delivered when the new reservation kicked in. Sure enough, a CM showed up with the keys for the new reservation and we didn't have to switch....we didn't even have to go back up to the registration desk!

Not to be rude (I don't know what happened in your paticular case) but that is going overboard... As a CM at WDW (for 10 years), working resorts for 5 years... if you have a continuing reservation and it is in the same room category... letting them know at check in is more than enough (they will probably already have it set up for you). You can go down the night before just to reverify that, if you want to, but you don't need to go "everyday"...When you get up in the morning on the day that you would check out and check back in, just stop by the desk on your way out and do the switch... no big deal. Some CM's will do what dreams91 stated, but don't expect that most of the time you will physically need to stop by to re-register.

We had a split reservation (2 rates) at WL and it was so simple. We did not have to move and they even upgraded us to Courtyard (very nice). All we had to do was on the morning of the change, go down to the desk and checkin-checkout on paper and we were all set. It took less than 5 minutes. :wizard:

We also were able to stay in the same room - when we checked in the hotel, the CM spent quite a while looking through various rooms to find us one that was available for the entire duration of our stay, and assured us at that point that we would not have to move rooms. We just stopped by reception and changed the keys on the appropriate day.

You also asked:

(by the way does anyone else think it is a bit sneaky that they charge the whole stay at the first night rate? Does it work the other way if you go from value to high season? Anyway- getting off track).

It does work the other way if you go from value to high season. In fact, one year we added a day on at the front end just so we could get the value season for the whole stay. The CM doing our reservation made the suggestion and it was a great one!

I personally set up many continuing reservations at Pop. The majority of the time, the reservation was already flagged, and the rooms were blocked. However, it's still a good idea to mention it. The CM will work with the back office if needed to make sure that the room we place you in will be available for the second (and sometimes even third) reservation.

On the day of your reservation switch, one of two things will happen. You can either go down to the front desk (guest services or front desk line will work) anytime prior to 11am, and they will re-register you and issue new keys. The process generally takes less than 5 minutes. The other option is to set up in advance for the keys to be delivered to your room during a specified time window.

Hello ~

I've had a split reservation at POP and when I originally made and confirmed the reservation over the phone, I requested the same room, no problem there, and when I checked in, requested the same room, no problem, and was also delivered my keys the very morning of the 2nd reservation! And a great bag of goodies! All by 7am so I could run off to eat breakfast and to the MK, so good luck and have fun!

All the CM at POP are awesome and were so great to me with the split reservation!

Sometimes you have to change rooms, sometimes you don't..depends on the mood of the day.

You guys are the best- thanks for all the prompt replies about your experiences. I especially love that you can even get an answer from cast members about your various concerns. Thanks everyone!

Um, No it does not depend on the mood of the day. I have always encountered great moods from CM's even when I was there in September between hurricanes. Thanks all you great Cast Members.

Now for what it does depend on. If you book a trip that starts on a slow period, the week before Thanksgiving for example, and then your ressie goes into Thanksgiving week you might have to change rooms.

If you are there over New Years and stay the next week there is almost no chance you will have to move as attendance will go down significantly.

I have held as many as three reservations and have never had to move. But then I have not gone from a slow time to a high attendance time I have done the reverse.

When checking in the CM has always told me to call to check back in from the room. I do stop on the way back from the park to pick up my new valid "keys".

I have done this twice and did not have to move but I did have to stop at the front desk to get new keys (read check out and check in!). I was told that as long as I had the same category room and the CM linked the reservations that I would be fine - and I was. My experience was at CSR in April of 04 and at the Polynesian in October of 04.

FWIW - If you book during value season and your stay extends into peak season you do get the entire stay at the value season (cheaper rate).

Have a good trip and I guess even if you do have to move its worth the $$ savings, but I hope you don't have to move.

First off, yes actually if you are going from low - high rate, it's the same thing. Let's get to the real meat and potatoes question though. As Tyler (yeah!! Tyler congrats and happie 1 year anniversary) stated, we always do our best to keep our guests in the same room for their entire stay; cause if you think about it in the long run it becomes more work for everyone involved to have you change rooms. So yes except in some unforeseen extreme circumstance, you'll remain in the same room. Also as Tyler stated we can even bring all the materials to your room on the day that your reservations switch. There are two times each day that we, at Pop Century, do this delivery (between 7:30 - 8:30 & 9:00 - 10:00). Just keep in mind that if you opt for this service, that it might take that whole hour for us to deliver them, especially on a day when the rate changes! Also keep in mind if you are not in the room we cannot deliver your new keys and such, because then you would be locked out of your room. Feel free to make comment on your situation when you check in, so as to guarantee your interest in our delivery service. That's about it, any other question just ask. Cya Real Soon! pirate:

I had to ressies at ALMO and didnt have to move. Now I have 3 for 3 POP for diff rates... Dec 29th till Jan 7th ... I was told I wont have to move and I will let them know at check-in ... hopefully it'll be fine.
