Booking skymiles reward flight??

Finally, I have enough mileage accumulated to book a skymiles flight for the three of us (maybe, if I can get a skysaver fare). Anyway, I understand about the 331 day limitation. My questions:

When (time of day) are reward fares loaded online?

Can you have them hold the first leg, and then book the final roundtrip when that time comes, even it that will be ten days later?

Do you recommend trying to book 3 at one time, or should I try each individually?

I'll try to help you out here, but my responses are based on past experience
and not necessarily policy today.
Re: Time of day; usually when we on the east coast are sleeping, early AM.
I would just check when you get up.

Re: First leg; yes you can book your departure and then your return. I believe you have 14 days (and this is where I might be wrong) to hold your reservation.

Re: 3 at one time v. one at a time; Delta offers two choices for redeeming miles....SkySaver (25K) and Skychoice (50K). Different flights/routes have
limited number of frequent flyer seats available. You may get 0 at Skysaver
rate or all 3. If you try 3 at one time, you may automatically get shut out if only two are available. By doing one at a time, you'll be able to figure out exactly how many FF seats are available.

Final recommendation; I would call instead of trying on-line. Good Luck!

You can't hold your one way flight online, you have to call. If you don't get what you want the first day, keep checking (easy to do online). I have found that often Delta doesn't load all of their seats at 331 days out. We booked at that point and had to fly down on a Friday, and back on a Wednesday. A month later, all the days were available.
