E booked out seats 60 days out and when we checked in at 11.15 this morning 24 hours before we were moved from the bubble to the back of the plane. What is the point of booking. !!

How frustrating... You've just made me check ours but fortunately we haven't been moved.

VA do say it's not guaranteed you will get your chosen seat, it's just a request. But I'd be highly annoyed. Can you log in and select another seat that isn't at the back?

Yes we managed to move further down but there was not much choice. yesterday we still had our seats !!

Just done twilight checkin. We asked why we were moved. The plane is only half full so they closed the bubble. Makes sense. :)

Hi Janet - I read your first post and straight away thought that they must have closed the bubble!

They will only use the economy bubble seats if they are full downstairs which makes perfect sense but is a gamble when you are booking seats off peak ;)

Have a great trip :goodvibes

It does make sense, but it's a shame!

When we were on a (more than) half empty 747 around 8 years ago we were assigned an entire row lol. One of the best economy flights I've ever had :) maybe you'll get lucky too!

I think all will be good and we are going to have a magical time :)

I was just going to say that as well:) It is annoying but its only 91/2 hours of your holiday. We actually always go for the back of the plane in the two seat config. as there's only two of us and its just nice not having anybody next to us. :)

Have a great holiday:cool1::cool1:

Its quite worrying for VA if their planes are half empty this time of year. Years ago they were sold out. Maybe they look at how many seats they have vacant downstairs in economy and if over the allocated in the bubble they close if for those who have paid for PE. Pain for those in economy bubble but nice for those in PE. I have read this happening quite a lot and I know it adds extra excitement knowing us economy get a nice experience upstairs. We had row 79 abc last time but the plane was full. When we go in may I cannot see it being full on the way out but end of half term coming back so probably will. Gonna play safe and book downstairs as do not want to end up split up or at the back again. Had left over food choice which was baked aubergine and had nothing for my daughter. If just me and DB would sit anywhere but not with 2 children 12 and 7. One being her first trip ever on a plane but what a trip it will be.
Hope you are having a fantastic time. Xx

Maybe it's good. If they are pricing themselves out of the market then may just need to look at reducing costs. I can dream anyway!!!!!!!

It's not surprising outbound flights are half empty as school starts this week - I bet the return flights are full.

For years VA have reduced capacity in September by cutting LGW from 2 to 1 flight per day - no change as that will be starting next week :thumbsup2

They've done the same in Manchester too. We originally booked an early flight on 10/09, but they bumped us to the afternoon flight as ours was cancelled. We moved the flight to the day before, where they are running the morning flight but not the afternoon flight.

Weirdly, there are still plenty of seats left in all cabins outbound - but nothing at all inbound!

We are flying VA on 3rd Oct to MCO and there is only 1 flight, when my sister joins us 4 days later there are 2 flights out but half term isn't until the end of October ........ Very odd to me

is there a way to see how full a flight is ?

I know that on some airlines (US Airways for example) you can see a cabin map with the prebooked seats even before booking, but can you do that with virgin once you've booked ?

I mean, can you foretell if there are chances that they switch to 1 flight, or close the bubble ? This would be easier than just going for the bubble and being thrown at the back of the plane a few days before departure.

Well after my winging we had a fabulous flight. The food has certainly perked
Up since may we were offered more drinks. There was so much room as the flight was so empty AND we landed an hour early. In 15 years this was
Our best flight to Orlando. :woohoo:
