I've spent far too many hours trying to run this math in my head and I am giving up and asking for help!!
I would like to book a trip for September. My mom (who is here somewhere! Hi mom!) offered us enough DVC points that we can stay at OKW for 5 nights (Thanks, mom!). We'd round out the vacation with 2 nights somewhere else -- likely AKL, where I've been dying to stay.
But the pricing is driving me crazy. I tried pricing it out online through Disney's website last night and the price jumped from about $1075 to $1800 for 2 nights savanna view room with 6 day park hoppers. (We have 2 adults, a 4 year old, and a 1 year old.)
Then, it dropped back down to $1400, but I couldn't figure out why the price kept changing.
Additionally, I would probably book by phone because we have AAA and there's likely a discount on the room with that.
But, let's make it even more confusing. I'm taking the girls down with my mom (Thanks, mom!) later this month. I could upgrade my current 6 day park hopper to an AP. It was purchased through undercovertourist.com -- does anybody know what the cost would be to upgrade that to an AP??
I figure that I would probably just about break even buying an annual pass or buying a second 6 day hopper for me in the fall, but would having the AP qualify me for any room rate discounts for September? I am having a hard time finding any information about AP rates in September.
Also, I am thinking that because we won't qualify for free dining (with only a 2 night paid resort stay) in September, DDE might be a good deal for us because our stay will actually be 7 nights.
Do any of you experts have any wisdom for me?
