How far out can I book (if one is available) a room at a DVC resort not using points but using the cash discount TIA

11 months if available. That said, there is very little availability for cash that far ahead. DVC makes cash rooms available only if they believe (via some formula we do not have access to) the rooms will not be reserved for points.

Sometimes rooms are available for cash, but not available with the discount.

Ok thanks. It helps knowing ahead of time so we know which direction to go in our planning.:thumbsup2

When I booked our rooms (I did a quick rearrange at about 10 months out) I was allowed to book a cash room. We have Monday-Friday on points, Saturday on cash, and Sunday on points, all linked. The 2BR cash rate was $650 I believe (and this is the night before EAster, so I think that IS with the discount--but I'll call later on in the year and double-check).

I have another question in this same topic. If I book some dates with points (say Sun to Thursday) and then book additional dates cash thru CRO (not using DVC discount but instead an AP discount) can the dates all be linked together so we will not have to move rooms?

What is the DVC discount for cash?

25% off rack rate.

Nights through CRO cannot be officially linked. They can note the reservations but you will have to check-out and check back in, possibly having to move. Nights booked with DVC can be linked and there is no check-out and check-in (assuming the room types are the same).

I have been successful at booking DVC cash discount rooms twice. The first time I got a studio at VWL for MLK weekend at about 5 months out. The 2nd time I was looking for a studio at AKV. That one took 3 calls about a week or two apart. I got lucky on my 3rd call and was able to get a value studio last Oct for July of this summer (about 9 mo. out). I tried to call last month right after the new prices were released for 2009 to check for studio availability at SSR for spring break of next year. They told me there was no availabilty yet - but I called RIGHT after the new prices came out. I would guess that would be a hard time to get tho... I have not checked for those dates since last month so I don't know if there's been anything released yet. They told me the inventory changes all the time - so you might have to call frequently to find exactly what you're looking for. I would suggest having a Plan A and a Plan B and be flexible about which resort you want if you can...

that you could book cash at the 11 month window for your home resort and the 7th for the others. IS this not correct??? Could I book my cash nights at BCV NOW for July vs. waiting til Dec. my 7th window?????? :confused3

You can IF they're available! They may or may not have rooms at the resort of your choice that far out. I don't think the 11 mo. rule applies to your home resort only when you're dealing with the cash discount. In the real life example that I gave in my previous post, I was able to book at AKV at 9 mo. out and I do not own there. I was unsuccessful finding what I wanted on my first 2 attempts. It took 3 calls. Last month I called about cash availability at SSR in April...my "home" resort and was told the inventory had not been released yet. That would've been 8 months out. In the meantime, we have since decided to book a ski trip up to Deep Creek Lake where we can DRIVE to instead...so I have not called back to check on it any more... This plan lets us save our points for summer since we want to take other people with us PLUS we don't have to shell out anything for flights! (Although I am still watching Kayak.com for good deals just in case!!:rotfl2: )

Well I am going to call tomorrow for my two cash nights at BCV then. Who know they might be available. Thanks.

I know there is a chart somewhere too...that has the rates. Do you by chance know that information? Thanks
