My travel agent has just phoned to say we can't book Charcter Lunch at the Lucky Nugget on 12th March, my son's choice as it's his birthday. Does anyone know if tour operators are only allocated a certain amount of places for these things, (we're booked with First Choice) and could they have possibly filled their allotment.
Might I still be able to l book it with Disney if I phone them direct ?

Just had another phonecall to say they could book dinner at the Lucky Nugget - so panic over. :cheer2:

I'd be almost 100% sure that you will be able to book direct with Disney. This is the direct number for dining reservations: 33 1 60 45 60 45 (thanks dlpSteve!).

As a matter of interest how does travel agents costs for booking meals compare with booking direct?

Just tried and had no problem in booking the CD for the 12.3.06.

Did you book a package with your TA or hotel room and tickets sepreate?
I can only tell you from my point of view here from Germany but the TA are only able to book dinners etc. if you are booking a "Disneypackage".

...but you can also book the CD on the phone 60 days in advanced with DLRP direct.

Can you book for somewhere like Blue Lagoon in advance? I sort of thought you could only do it once you were there. ???????????????????

Yep you can book in advance on the number 4 posts up. Normally you don't need to but since it'll be busy when you go it might be worth it if you definitely want to eat there :goodvibes

We booked all our main meals on that telephone number about five weeks before we went. I think we would have been safe to have left it until we got there but we prefer to book our meals in advance and then plan our day round them :)

Thanks guys - 3 phonecalls today from Mike my long suffering Travel Agent, firstly he's told by First Choice that the lunch isn't available on the 12th at the LNS but is on the 13th, no good for us - so then I asked him to find out what character meals were available any time, at any restaurant on the 12th which is when he got back to say we could have the dinner at LNS - then I had a further phonecall from him to say when he contacted First Choice to confirm the dinner booking - they didn't know why he was told we couldn't have lunch as there were plenty of places still left :confused3
One last phonecall and he's 100% sure that we've got our original request, personally I'm waiting to see the confirmation.

Re: prices Reid
Character Lunch @ Lucky Nugget
First Choice - Adults £26 Children £11
Thomas Cook - Adults £25 Children £12
DLRP direct - Adults £21 Children £10

The biggest differences in prices I've seen are for the Buffalo Bill Show
First Choice - Adults £42 Children £28
Thomas Cook - Adults £44 Children £29
DLRP direct - Adults £35/£39 Children £25/£25 (advance bookings)

When I booked our next trip I did tally up the package prices and all of the "extras" from a variety of brochures, we're celebrating my 40th, mine & DH's 16th wedding anniversary, DS's 7th birthday and an early treat for DS's 12th birthday (had to go one last time whilst he qualifies for KGF) whilst we're there so adding a "little extra magic" cost nearly as much as the package.
Thank you Disney for Kids Go Free and Extra Night Free. :wizard: princess:

It was 30 euros per adult for lunch at the Lucky Nugget in August, and 15 euros for children. The exchange rates for my credit card transactions were between 1.46 and 1.47 so we paid roughly £20 per adult and £10 per child.

What a fantastic time you are going to have with all those celebrations Jill! We celebrated my 40th with our first family holiday to Cornwall, and it was really great! :goodvibes

i could be wrong, but i think i read somewhere that if you are a hotel guest, and book before you go by phone, you get £7 or £9 off the Buffalo Bills show??!!??

Those price differences must mount up if you book a few for the whole family!

There'll be 7 of us, (the kids did qualify for 1 free character breakfast each and they go free to Buffalo Bill's) but it was worth spending a couple of hours working out the cost from all the different brochures, eventually I chose First Choice, although they weren't the cheapest because the children all get a free rucksack with a few goodies in, rain poncho, autograph book, disposable camera etc. :earsgirl:

I'm so looking forward to it Elaine - we've something planned for everyday all I have to do now is decide where we're going to eat for my birthday treat but I'm torn between Blue Lagoon - it always looks so beautiful but I've always thought more adult orientated, very romantic looking, Auberge de Cendrillon - I really have to try that Cinderella Slipper or the Rainforest Cafe because I know the boys will love it.

I think I'll probably be making a few visits to the local Weight Watchers class when we get home. :earsgirl:

Jill, don't rule out Blue Lagoon because it looks adult orientated (though I do know what you mean).

My DDs, then aged 4 and 7 had a ball here. they were made to feel very welcome, loved that it was dark and watching the boats go by!
