Booking restaurants in advance?

Is it worth booking the restaurants in advance of the trip? We'd love to eat at Cafe Mickey one night, and possibly Planet Hollywood, is it worth ringing before we leave to book the tables? Which is the best number to ring to book them? Direct with the restaurant, or the Disneyland reservations number? You can't book at Annette's can you?

No, you can't make reservations at Annettes or at Planet Hollywood. If you want to eat at Cafe Mickey on your first night, or you want a particular time on a particular day, then it would be worth booking before you go. Otherwise I'm sure you will be okay making them on the morning of your visit. :)

It will depend on whether you are going when the parks are busy and also whether it is mid week or the weekend.
If you have specific days in mind then probably best to book. Details can be found via the Restaurant FAQ sticky. Here is a direct link to the page with details :)

You are correct Annette's Diner cannot be book, similar to most in Disney Village. This also rules out Planet Holywood. At least you can go for Cafe Mickey which still continues to get good reviews :goodvibes

Thanks folks. I was thinking of Cafe Mickey for our first night, to "get us in the mood" -for Disney, nothing else, I hasten to add ;-) We are going in January, so it will be quiet, but I'd hate us to not get a table so taking 5 minutes to book is going to be worth it.

::yes:: Unbelievably I haven't been there yet, so we're definitely doing this on our next trip :thumbsup2

Yes, we've not been there (apart from for breakfast) and the reviews are what's made us want to go. I also fancy the theming at the Rainforest cafe but the reviews seem to unanimously say that the food is awful, and I'm not paying a fortune for rubbish food :-(

Neither have we, so it is on our list :goodvibes

Fun that we both answered at the same time :thumbsup2

Yes you should book in advance. I called the week before our trip this week (central reservations number) and got a table at cafe mickey for our party of 16 for last monday at 7pm. We arrived at 6.50 and were shown immediately upstairs to our table, the people in front of us in the queue were told the next available table was 9.30!!

I also booked cape cod in newport bay club (our hotel) for the night we arrived, again the wait for tables for those who hadn't booked was almost at the stairs.

With having such a big group, we then decided to book our remaining two nights restaurants, and did so at the hotel concierge desk. Silver spur steakhouse (not good) and our final night in the cape cod again - excellent buffet.

I was rather disappointed with the food at the Rainforest (having previously had fabulous meals in both WDW and London) but I wouldn't say it was awful, maybe just not as good as I was expecting.

The theming is brilliant. :thumbsup2
