The last time we went to Disney(which was this past October) we rented points and it worked out great! BUT we were nervous being locked in and not having the option to change dates if needed. I looked at the prices direct through Disney for AKV and if the special for 35% off is available when we want to go it equals out to the same price as renting points. We aren't going again until May 2015 but do they usually run the same deals for early May each year? We have always stayed through a timeshare so I'm not very familiar with the deals they run and when...Also how soon does Disney let you book? Can I make payments? I would like to book asap and slowly pay it off. TIA:goodvibes

Check the historical data from MouseSavers.com. That's my best resource to see what discounts have been available in the past.

And I think AKV was actually 25% (for Jan - April 2014) while AKL (not Savannah rooms or CL) were 35%.

If you really know where you want to stay and were happy with a Villa, go for it! If you want to try somewhere new or have the ability to change resorts, go with the discount. It's really a personal preference. I'm uncomfortable renting points from someone I don't know (and I get a TA discount, so I always book direct!)
