We are DVC members who normally stay at our "home resort" how difficult is it to book another resort. I know alot of people book their home resort and then 7 months out change it to another.....are the chances good that you will get the other resort? Looking for DVC members who have tried this in the month of November

Thanks!

You'll definitely get more response on the dvc board but so far I've had great success getting my reservations at other resorts 7 months out. This year we will be there during Jersey week 11/7-11/13. We got a 1 bedroom BCV's without any problem.

depends on exactly when you're going and where you want to stay. For instance we're going to WDW during the food and wine festival and its much more difficult to book at an Epcot DVC resort (BWV/BCV) after the 7mos window during this time than other resorts. You might get more responses to this question on the DVC boards as well.

Got VWL for the first weekend of May(waitlisted all the days of the trip, it came through in about 5 weeks(end of Jan)).

Just got a 2br ded at BCV for 1/17-1/21(MLK weekend) with no problem and not calling day by day.

We haven't done November, but I just wanted to add that we have had excellent luck w/waitlisted dates, so if that ends up being an option, it usually works well (have a plan B just in case).

When in November?
Personally I would have been right on it at 7 months(but I'm a little OCD, I have the 7 month day for every trip marked on calendar). I usually book my home resort at 11 months then let the finger dial at 7 months(except for Spring Break at VB on DH's orders). :)

We normally go Jersey Week.......We are just starting to discuss our trip for 2008. I'm glad to hear that lots of you had no problem getting reservations at another DVC resort.

Thanks

We've never had a problem booking at the 7 month window, but it does depend on resort, time of year and what type of room you are looking for. At resorts with Standard and Preferred rooms, I would not count on getting the Standard view at 7 months, as these typically go first.

We might be interested in either a 2 bedroom, or a grand villa. We are members at Saratoga Springs but the Grand Villa at OKW will save us a ton of points.

Keep in mind there are few grand villas. I don't know how many are in your party, but the 2 bedrooms at Old Key West are huge. They are truly a 2 bedroom with a living area/kitchen/dining area, rather than the one bedroom attached to a studio that they call 2 bedrooms at the other resorts. Very nice accommodations if there are enough beds for your party.

How does a 2 bedroom suite at OKW compare to one at Saratoga Springs? We've only stayed at our home resort everytime we've gone to Disney.

Grand villas at OKW are can be very hard to come by, especially for non-members. If you are going during Jersey week, I really doubt you would be able to get one. (Sorry to be a negative poster!!)

We had no problem switching resorts at 7 months for other times of the year. Currently, we have been on the waitlist for BWV for 4 nights in early Dec since early May/late April and they haven't come through yet.

Good Luck with the waitlist! :goodvibes

We have stayed at other resorts many times. If you call at the 7 mos mark you probably wont have any trouble, but if its over thanksgiving or something you probably want to call day by day.

We have not stayed at Saratoga Springs. Our home resort is Boardwalk. The 2 bedrooms at Boardwalk are a 1 bedroom with an adjoining room that is a studio. They are not dedicated 2 bedroom accommodations. This is true at many of the DVC resorts.

If you've stayed in a 2 bedroom at SS, was this what it was like? If you haven't, maybe someone else can answer because I am not sure what the 2 bedrooms are like there.

In contrast, at OKW, the 2 bedroom is truly a 2 bedroom accommodation (it's almost like a condo!). There is a large living area/kitchen/dining area. Off of that, there is a bedroom with a king bed, bath w/jacuzzi & shower and then another totally separate bedroom off the living area with 2 queen beds and it's own bath. I guess it would sleep 8 including the pullout sofa in living area. If you are trying to save points and this is enough room for you, you may want to give it some thought.

SSR, BCV & VWL all have some dedicated 2 BRs :) But they are not as big as the OKW ones. You can request dedicated 2 BR but they are not guaranteed. We've stayed in both dedicated & 1BR/studio and there isn't that much of a difference.
