Booking resort at Christmas

We are planning to travel over Christmas next year 2018- our home resort is WL- if we decide to book say at the GF or Beach CLub- or studios at Poly, how likely is it that at 7 month booking window (I believe) will we get a 2 BR and studio?? Are the chances good or not?? I realize it is a very busy time of year esp. over Christmas so I just want to be prepared. Thanks for any and all input. We are new to DVC having just purchased- so we will need lots of advice. Thanks again

IMO, your chances are not good at all, especially since you want two villas. Check out drusba's availability thread for a good summary of what's tough to get at 7 months:

Be sure to book your home resort at 11 months so that you have a place to stay if your 7 month choices do not work out. You can always waitlist and hope to get lucky, but there is no way to say you want two villas or none at all. Current waitlist options don't support multiple room requests.

Thank you for forwarding that thread, it is very helpful and insightful as well. Yes, we do plan on booking at our home resort WL but will see what is available at the 7 month window at the other resorts. Thanks again

Availability continues to change and IMO gets harder at 7 months as the thousands of new owners are trying to book at 7 months.

Now more than ever our family is glad that we bought our favorite resorts when the prices were lower, book at 11 months, have enough points where points are not a factor, and we don't waitlist anymore.

Anything is possible if you stalk like crazy. The Polynesian has so many studios that cancellations occur more often than people think.

I pieced together two weeks at the Polynesian, including Christmas and NYE, after the seventh month window last year. And only one of those days was due to inventory being added. You have to have the stomach for piecing together days with holes and the points since you would be keeping an original reservation (I wasn't).

Also, Christmas is not as difficult as people think. It's from the 26th on into NY's week that's more crazy.

When you say you own at WL, do you own Boulder Ridge Villas (old Villas at Wilderness Lodge) or Copper Creek (newly renovated hotel rooms at WL)? They are two separate resorts.
