Booking rental car through Hotwire?

After a lot of searching for the best deal Ive found the best on hotwire for our may trip. What luck has everyone had using them? Any issues? We were choosing the mid - size which was a mazada 6 or similar - does anyone know which company they use for this category or is it a toss up? Usually when you book through hotwire when you arrive to pick up car is everything paid up and they require no further money etc at the car rental?

We got Hertz for our May trip. I think most people do.

I've booked through Hotwire. No problems. My recollection is that it could be any of the major car rental agencies. It's been awhile since I used them, but as I recall you prepay for everything when you book. You'd only need to pay additional money if you add something on (like GPS or something) once you arrive to pick up the car.

They do not require anything to be placed on a credit card, but they will require a credit card as a deposit/hold. Most agencies accept debit cards, but there are a lot of issues with using a debit card for car rentals and it's not really recommended.

how much of a deposit do they usually put on them? thats just what i worry about someone maxing out my credit card when i may need it for vacation things haha.

They usually do not put a deposit down on a credit card, but debit cards they do.
