Booking question?

Hi all,

I'm planning on going to Disney 10/10-10/15, and I've decided on the hotel I want to stay at. My question is, should I book the room now, or should I wait until I get a deal? I was there 2 years ago, and I get emails, and regular mail with deals, but nothing for October yet. Any advice?

Hi all,

Is a deal a make or break type of thing for you? If yes, wait. If no, book what you want now.

Having a booking doesn't affect whether you'll be able to apply a deal later.

If you call Disney directly, you can add / change the deal you have in place right up to the day before your check in date.

That includes regular room pricing as well.

OK, Thanks. Its not a make or break situation, I was just looking to get a good deal. I kinda figured that if I booked it now, and a better price came along, they would honor it.

They only have a certain number of rooms available under any given discount. So what you have booked might not be eligible. You may have to change room type, resort or dates to get the discount.

Well, I'm hoping something good comes along. I was in Disney in Nov 2014, and was originally staying at a Hampton Inn outside the property. I just happened to go to the Disney Website in Sept, and saw that they were offering rooms at the Pop Century for $91 a night ( I would have been paying $89 a night at the Hampton Inn). I guess I got lucky. So, I'll be crossing my fingers, and hope for a good deal. Either way, I'm going. LOL.

They definitely don't honor it in the traditional sense.

If you're the 11th caller and only 10 rooms are allowed to have the discount, they won't apply it.

Disney is great with honoring deals, but you have to be able to change plans if need be to get a deal. For our 2015 vacation I originally booked the Contemporary Theme Park view, but when a deal came out I called Disney to see if I could get that deal applied to my existing reservation. They told me that unfortunately those rooms were not included in the deal or that they have no more of those rooms available for the deal. But then they offered my some other choices. Long story short we ended up getting the Grand Floridian Deluxe room so it was WAY bigger than the contemporary rooms and we got it for $500 cheaper than what we were going to be paying at the Contemporary. Although it was not a theme park view room it was a nice room with a view of the pool, and just being able to stay at the grand floridian was amazing anyways. Anyways we were able to work around and give up that theme park view (really really hard decision on my part, even though we would be moving to the grand floridian, lol) and we got a better deal out of it. I think if you keep an open mind and stay flexible you should be able to get a deal for that time of year. I think they usually do like a free dining thing around that time, but don't quote me on that :rolleyes1

I'll just keep on checking the website, and also my email and regular mail. Its still more then 6 months away, so I'll just keep my eyes open.

If you know what you want and a deal is not make or break for you book it now. Make sure the reservation is fully refundable and you literally have nothing to lose- even if you change your mind and want to book elsewhere in the next 6 months or after discounts come out. In your shoes I'd book the room I want, monitor the boards for discounts and then call Disney the instant the discount comes out to see if you can get it applied.

I'm about to go to Disney for my first time but I do have some advice with this from what I've learned. I think it's best to book what you want now and hope to find a deal later. You can book right through Disney and put a small down payment down and that's it. You don't have to pay anything else until your payment due date if you wanted to. This gives you your reservation no matter what while you wait to see if any deals come out. If a deal comes out then try to call Disney and get that discount applied to your stay. Like other people said though, if they don't have any rooms available for the discount when you call they won't discount your stay. This happened to me. I booked my April honeymoon so far in advance. Like right when the room rates for 2016 came out. Eventually, many months later, the spring discounts came out. I tried calling but they couldn't give me the discount because there was no availability. Don't just give up though if that happens. You can either keep trying (because people change their reservations all the time) or you could try going through a travel site! I ended up checking out Orbitz and was shocked when I saw they had my exact room type/stay dates offered with the spring discount. These travel sites get their own block of rooms so if Disney is out these sites might not be! I booked it through Orbitz and saved a few thousand dollars. The only downside was you have to pay it all at once. It was totally worth it though for the savings. After I had that booked through Orbitz i cancelled my reservation through Disney, they gave me my down payment back and I linked my Orbitz reservation to my disney account.

Good luck!
