I am hoping to get all 5 of us together for a family vacation in June. That is so hard now that two are in college. My middle son is telling me that he might not be able to stay all week due to work. Can I book him for only part of the ressie or do I have to split the stay?

TIA
Ana

Are you driving or planning on using the Magical Express from the airport? If you are using magical express than you will have to tell Disney the exact dates your son will be there so he has a ride to/from the airport.

You usually have to pay extra for more than two guests in the room each night. You shouldn't have to pay for the nights he won't be there.

Where are you staying? If you are staying in a Villa, than it doesn't matter because you just pay for the room/suite, not per person.

Hope that helps.

You probably don't need to split the stay, but what to do will depend on where you're staying. You need to pay extra if you have more than 2 adults in the room. If you are a group of 5, with 2 college kids, then you would be 4 adults and 1 minor, correct?

-If you are staying at a Villa, it's not an issue, like the PP said.

-If you are staying in 1 room in Deluxe, you might need to call and put the dates of the one that won't be for the full stay, so that you are charged the extra adult fee only for the dates he's actually there.

-If you are staying in 2 rooms at any resort, then it shouldn't be an issue either, since you will technically have up to 2 adults in each room, so no extra fees will be charged.

I should have said I am worried about the dining aspect. I thought I had seen that everyone has to be on the same dining package

And I don't think we will be in a villa. I am still trying to figure that all out

If you want a dining plan you will need a package reservation unless you wil be booking that villa with rented DVC points.

For a package reservation, everyone registered in the room must:
Get the same dining plan for the full length of stay; and
Get the same tickets (length and features).

If your son won't be there the whole time and you really do want the dining plan, you can use his credits when he is not with you.

You can also book the minimum ticket length that he will need as part of the package, then upgrade everyone else's tickets when you arrive. If you stay 7 days and he is there for 4 of them, book 4 day tickets for everybody. Then upgrade everyone's ticket but his to 7 day tickets when you get there.

If you end up renting points, or you are a DVC member booking on points, then the ticket thing is not relevant but you do have to get the same dining plan for everyone for the full length of the stay.
