Sorry for the seemingly obvious question but I am new to the DVC thing...If we want to book April 9-12 (end of Easter 2015) at our home resort, do I go online May 9, 2014? Do you book from Check In or Check Out? Is it like dining where it is 180 days, or is it based on the date (April 9/May 9)? I am having a hard time typing what I am trying to say, but I know someone will know what I am talking about :rotfl2:

For trip April 9-12, 2015, you can reserve at your home resort on May 9, 2014. You can reserve exactly 11 months out from date of arrival. Thus, it goes by months not days.

Thank you, That is what I thought but wanted to make sure. I am so new I don't even have my paperwork yet (come on June 19!), but that doesn't stop me from daydreaming about my first DVC trip :cloud9: How long of a trip can you book? Say you had enough points and could book 2 weeks, could you book two weeks from 11 months or do they put a limit on how many days past 11 months you can book? Like the 180+10 rule?

If you book online thru the members website, it will tell you exactly what dates you can make reservations for.

On the right side of the page you get when you log on it says :

Early Booking Reminder
You can start requesting up-to-7-night reservations for arrival as far out as:
Home Resort
Arrival Date : MMM DD 2014
Non-Home Resorts
Arrival Date : MMM DD 2014

1. If you call to reserve exactly 11 months out from date of arrival, you can book only up to 7 nights.

2. However, you are not limited to those 7 nights. For example, if you wait to call at 10 months out you can reserve 2 weeks at once. There is no real restriction to the total number of nights you can get except for the maximum number of points you have to use. (If you book on-line you cannot do more than 14 nights at time but that is a computer limit not an actual limit; you just need to do the reservation by phone to book more than 2 weeks at once.)

3. What some do when they want more than 7 nights and want to assure there is no risk of being unable to reserve a night is reserve 7 nights exactly 11 months out and thereafter call daily and keep adding one night per call until they have all the nights desired.

Got it. Thank you! Not that I will be able to stay for that long I was just curious :). I wouldn't say it is impossible but for now I will only book short stays. But of course I want to come at the most popular time. It's a long time before my kiddos are out of school ;)

You may have some misunderstanding about popular times for DVC reservations. Go here and see my post, #5 in the thread:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3121307

I want to go first week on December and at Easter. I always thought busy correlated to busy parks but then someone told me that December was busiest for dvc. That sealed the deal for me to buy at vgf since that is where I want to stay in dec!! Easter I am much more flexible. I am going to check your link but I probably already read it. I'm addicted ;). Thank you for making sure I was in the know. I really appreciate it!

I just read the thread u posted. I had definitely read it before. I remembered it, that is how good it was :)
