Has anyone had problems making reservations through member services lately? I tried to book Tanque Verde(concierge collection) for March and was told the week requested was sold out. Called the resort and found there were openings, but not many, so called member services back and asked that they confirm for us ASAP. Was given a song and dance about having to wait untill tomorrow to book, since they were too busy to call at that time. They were very inflexible and refused to call, stating I would hear in about 48 hours. I'm not to happy with that since there is very little availability and by the time member services gets around to booking there may be nothing left. It was a very frustrating experience since I new if I was paying cash, I could have booked right then and there. I don't know what the answer is except more staff at member services. It's also very frusrtating to me to not be able to book on weekends or evenings, since I work during the week and get home to late to call. JUST VENTING!!!!!!!!

yes but if they hired more people or worked longer hours - everyone maintence fees would increase.

can't you call during your lunch hour?

Given the fact that in the first phone conversation you were misled in a fashion that could have cause your booking to completely fail, well, in your shoes I'd have escalated from one supervisor to another until their heads rang like gongs. By all means follow this up in writing.

Is it possible that Tanque Verde, like some other resorts, has certain rooms they use for "trades" and other for their own cash customers? I know technically that it isn't a trade like II, but perhaps Tanque Verde does "hold" some rooms for last minute cash ressie rather than using them for DVC and other internal arrangements.

This is true for most DVC trade options using points directly (excluding II trades). DCL definitely limits DVC cabins. I've heard % thrown around but don't know them enough to quote confidently.

Almost all resorts/hotels limit things like this. So just because they have openings does not mean they are going to trade them with DVC. The first MS rep could have been right. Since there are "not many" openings there may not be any openings for this type of trade. Generally when resorts get low on inventory they quit trading/giving discounts etc hoping they can sell the rooms at rack rate.

All inventory was open to DVC. They do not hold any back for cash. The error was at Member services only.

Do you know for a fact that Tanque Verde does not hold any rooms back for cash?? And why was this totally Member Servics fault?
