We are traveling to Orlando next August for a cruise on the Disney Dream. We are also doing a 5 day pre cruise stay at Pop.

I just checked today and I can book flights on Delta for our departure date
(8/28/2011) but our return date is not available. We will either be returning on 9/1/2011 or 9/4/2011.

I have never only booked a one way outbound flight without immediately booking a one way return flight.

The price of $79/person one way seems good so I am tempted to book it. But I am concerned that maybe I should wait until my return dates open up to see if I can get a better deal booking it as a round trip.

What would you do? :confused3

I would buy that ticket NOW, before the price goes up! I recently bought one-ways on Delta @ $71 and $79 (plus tax), and they have since gone up quite a bit. The roundtrip fare won't be lower than the two one-ways.

Thanks Nancy. I think I'm going to take your advice!

Delta doesn't penalize you for buying one-way tickets vs. round trips---at least, not on the routes I check.

A few years ago my family and I flew from Providence to San Diego on Southwest for $99 and back on another airline for $99, can't remember what airline, they went out of business a month later. I think this was our cheapest alternative because the back flight on SW was a lot more, and it was cheaper than a roundtrip this way. the only bummer was my wife left her pocketbook under her seat and believe it or not they say they never found it:headache: even though we went to the desk within 30 mins of getting off the plane, maybe somebody picked it up, never know.

Good! If you should have buyer's remorse, you can cancel within 24 hours of making the purchase and get a refund.

Thanks everyone! I just booked our flights. :woohoo:

Now I'm waiting on our return flights to open up. I feel like the lady in the old Kohl's commercial with her face pressed against the glass door waiting for the store to open up. She kept chanting "Open, open, open" :rotfl2: That's me waiting :surfweb:

I am booked on AirTran to Orlando and Delta from Orlando for Feb. and April 2011 trips. I like AirTran's morning non-stop from Bloomington, IL (and I hope Southwest doesn't mess with it!), but I don't like their even earlier morning non-stop home from Orlando. Since I will be connecting on the way home, I bought my ticket on the airline with the lowest fare. For both of those trips - the winner was Delta.

I hope you'll be able to snag another $79 fare when you are able to book the return flight in another week or so. :teeth:

We are booked MCO to YHZ in April. so now we know when we are cocming home, just don't have the date for leaving. We do this quite often, if the price is right we book it.

I do the same. I booked my May 2 return flight on Delta several weeks ago, but had to wait until yesterday to book the outbound flight on AirTran.

I've booked one-way tickets for 2 trips now- I've always gotten great prices that way! Good luck!
