Booking On Line at 7 Months

I have a room booked at my home resort but would like to book a different resort at 7 months. However my contract is not large enough to cover two reservations, I don't want to cancel my home resort until I know I have the other booked. So do I need to borrow points to book the new resort and then cancel my home resort reservation and bank those points to the next year? Or does the on line system recognize that I already have a reservation for these dates and allow me to cancel and use the points to book the new reservation? I know talking to an agent will allow me to work this out but I want to book as soon as the window opens at 8AM to have the best shot at a room. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

To use points in first reservation, you must cancel it before booking new reservation. So we can not begin until 8am the day our 7 month window opens?

Yes you cannot book the new room (at non home resort) until exactly 8 am 7 months out eastern time. If you try prior to 8 am you will get an error message that you are outside your booking window-you can have the screen up and ready to go but cannot click to book until 8 am

I just wish they would do this like the dining reservations does. If you book a reservation but are already holding one it asks do you want to cancel this and book that? Seems like a function they could add.
