within 25 days of sailing.... they just offered OGT only. i can see both Oceanview and verandah rooms still available... about 100 that i can see but may are 16 rooms per deck/section(aft, mid, forward) which seems to be the max they show🤷. anyway wondering if anyone has experience doing this and getting a verandah? TIA

Every time we’ve booked a guaranteed rate, we’ve gotten what we booked whether it’s IGT, OGT, or VGT. Never been upgraded to the next category. You will be able to upgrade at the port to a verandah assuming it’s still available. But if you book an OGT you need to be happy getting an oceanview room.

Just because rooms look available doesn't mean they have that many... there can be currently-unassigned *GT or GTYs. If you book an OGT you should expect to be assigned to an oceanview stateroom. There may be opportunity to upgrade to a verandah room at boarding but I'd never plan on it.

Agree with pp that an upgrade is unlikely. In addition to what shows as available, Disney has handicapped accessible rooms that do not show up in the online availability which they assign to *GT guests if nobody needing an HA rooms books them (which is quite often).

What cruise is this for?

If you book OGT it's a very very strong likelihood that you will get oceanview. Always book the category you'll be happy with cuz that's usually what you get. They may be offering OGT only because they feel that they can sell the veranda cabins without resorting to VGT.

These days we book mainly *GT rates and we have never been upgraded to a higher category like OV to Verandah. We have been upgraded within the same category meaning when we book we are in the lowest OV category but we often get assigned a higher OV category....not always but often.

We have always been very happy with our *GT assignments.

We've booked inside GTY and been upgraded - once to OV HA, once to OV Deluxe Family and once to HA Verandah! Our upcoming cruise is our first IGT, but I know we'll be happy with what we get because we actually booked at the lowest inside level before we switched!

I'm always happy just to be on the ship!

The best I’ve done is getting a secret porthole room when booking an IGT. I’ve also gotten the deluxe ocean family ocean view every time I’ve booked an OGT on Dream or fantasy. VGT I usually get a decent balcony room. I’ve never been upgraded to different category, but I’ve gotten some nice rooms and good locations within that category. I’ve never been given an obstructed view balcony when booking a VGT.

I’ve booked IGT a several times and only been upgraded once… and it was the day of the cruise, and we’d already been allocated room numbers so they must have took one of the rooms out for maintenance or something.

I’ve Booked ogt and Vgt many times. Never been upgraded to a different category, even when I cruised the nearly empty ships during the restrictions. I’ve cruised 30 times and am a platinum, soon to be Pearl. my last OGT cruise (November 2022) we were placed in 9B deck 2 Which is a basic oceanview room. Your best bet is to get the thought out of your mind. The ships are sailing pretty full now. You can certain upgrade to a veranda cabin during checkin, but it’s not free, so will costs more $$.
