booking off season 7 mo out?

Is it really hard to get availability at the 7 mo mark for a "non-home" resort if you're only planning on booking in the Adventure, Choice or Dream season (Magic season for home resort only)?

We own at OKW and have booked HH and BWV at the seven month window. It should not be hard at 7 months in the off season. In fact, we booked HH in March. We have never had any trouble getting what we wanted and we have gone in March, April, May, Sept and Dec. We never go in the summer because of the heat. Good luck with your reservations.

It really depends on the resort and the actual dates of your stay. Some of the most difficult times to get a reservation at the 7 month window are in the lower cost seasons. Believe it or not, summer time is actually one of the easier times to book the WDW on site DVC resorts.

For example, it can be very tough to get a reservation at VWL between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Yet that is the time of the year that point costs are at their lowest!

It is also hard to book standard views and guaranteed Boardwalk views at BWV almost all the time. Getting a Beach Cottge / Grand Villa anywhere for a weekday is also difficult at 7 months.

It is not impossible to get those times/resorts at 7 months, but if you do, it's most likely because you were fortunate or used the waitlist process.

If you have specific times/resorts in mind, post them. You'll get several opinions, I'm sure!

I think we fell into the fortunate category...

We booked at < 5 mo. out at a 1bdrm VWL (non-home resort) for a week this mid-Oct.

No wait list, no need to go to even a 2nd choice of room size or hotel...

I just booked 5 nights between CHristmas and New Years last week. We are in 3 different resorts, but on wait lists to consolidate to one resort. I did the same thing last year for around New Years. That was only about 6 weeks in advance. With some patience and waitlists, we were able to be in one resort the entire time. Flexibility and patience is the secret.

I booked Feb. 1 - 13 at OKW - 2 bedroom about ten days ago. No problems. Can't wait to try it!
