We are considering buying into the DVC. Was wondering if there is any chance of getting a 1 bedroom somewhere at WDW over the xmas holidays (between Dec 20 and 31) if we are only able to book in a few weeks once everything is processed.

Thanks:banana:

If you're buying resale, your odds are extremely low for finding availability since it takes weeks to complete the sale - basically by the time you close, you probably won't find any availability in your time frame; if you're buying directly from Disney, they may have units held-back for reservation for those buying now.....no one knows for sure though, but you can ask your guide to check to see if you can make a reservation first and then do your paperwork. Our guide got our reservation held for us, we wrote up our paperwork and the next day the hold was converted to a reservation. So, that's an option if Disney still has units for those buying now.

There is little to no availability as of now & DVC does not 'hold' units back that are available. There are many who are waitlisted and for majority those waitlists will not be fulfilled during these dates

Your chances would be extremely slim to none; December is very busy time at DVC resorts and particularly the dates you mention leading into New Year holiday. Members are vigilant about booking this time of year with their 11 month priority booking window.

Best wishes on finding the contract that's just right for you :goodvibes

I'm just replying with our experience - after someone who already owns BLT called for me before I called to make our purchase, the availability for them to reserve was 3 studio options for our dates, 2 one-bedrooms short a day of our dates and that was it. When I called our guide I was prepared to take the two one-bedrooms and move a day early somewhere else. It was my guide who said, hey, I can get you a two-bedroom lake-view for all your dates, hang on.....back in a few minutes with a hold ressie for a two-bedroom that was totally unavailable if you called MS......I dunno, maybe they call that something other than "holding back" units - all I know is I got the unit size I did want (but would have taken the two 1-bedrooms as a compromise to be at BLT), the dates I wanted and that was at a time when a BLT owner was told no availability for two bedrooms.....so that's why I said, who knows?

The Developer does hold points and therefore reservations throughout the year.
If purchasing direct from Dvc I would ask your guide about Christmas reservations as previously posted.

Two weeks ago I booked a studio for 12/25 and 12/26 and had my choice of any location. I think availability depends, as always, on when you want to be there, what room size you need, and where you want to stay. Flexibility is definitely the key.

I think you'll be able to get in at Xmas at either OKW or SSR. Definately talk to your guide.
Another option maybe to split up the stay into multiple resorts. Great way to see different resorts as a new member.

We joined the DVC back during it's inception, when there was only OKW, and that was not even completed at that point. Over the years, it has become increasingly difficult to get a place during either prime time {christmas, Easter, etc.,} or low point months {January, September, first part of December} My personal opinion is that they simply do not have enough DVC resort rooms, and there are a LOT of members, so the low point months are very difficult to get a reservation for unless you jump on it as soon as your reservation window opens.
