Ok, so few questions on how this works. What are the benefits to booking on board? And once you book on board, are you set in stone for that date? I know for a fact that if we book while on board, we won't know exact dates that we will be available and more than likely will take a 1 year break before going again, so how far out can you actually "book" a reservation. Can it be pushed further out if needed if you find the date you booked on board doens't work later?

I'm sure you'll get better responses than mine...

You get a discount; I want to say 10%, but that could be incorrect.

I think you can only book for about a year, but there's no penalty to change that as long as you do it within proper time parameters.

From what I hear, this is definitely the way to go if you'll go again!

As PP stated you get a 10% discount off the fare (excluding concierge & suites), a shipboard credit ($100 for under 7N, $200 for 7N+) & reduced deposit (10%) . You don't have to choose an exact date to rebook onboard. Just ask the CM at the future cruise desk to book you a placeholder cruise. You should be able to book something through Dec. '14. I just did it in April. You are not set in stone with the cruise you book. You can change the date as often as you'd like as long as long as it's before final payment.

Is that the paid in full date for the cruise? Or when you pay it off if you do it before? I was thinking I'd take like $100 from each of my store paychecks and pay off my balance that way, which would pay me off WELL before the PIF date...but if being paid off period means I can't make a change, I'll have to re-think that.

The paid in full date for your cruise is what I meant. If you didn't move it before then you'd start paying penalty fees. You can make payments along the way. As long as you cancel before your final payment is due you'll receive all your money back.

P.S. Love your avatar! My favorite Pixar character ever. :goodvibes

You can make any changes without penalties before the PIF date. If you make a change in itinerary, the reservation number will stay the same and whatever payments will follow thru. The OBC will be adjusted if the cruise changes from 7+ nights to less than 7 nights (or the other way around). The 10% discount and 10% deposit will continue to apply. If you initially book a short cruise and then switch it to a longer cruise, you will have to pay the difference in the deposit (to come up to the 10%).

10% discount is on the cruise fare only.

Finally, if you don't have one, get a TA now and mention their name when you book on board. You will then be eligible for whatever on-board-credits they may offer, in addition to what DCL gives you.

Thanks! :)

And thanks! Mine too! That was the one character picture I stopped for during my first marathon (overall and first WDW). I saw Dug and I had to!

Thanks! Would I just talk with them before and say "this is what I'm doing" if I go that route? I like having control over my stuff, which is why I tend to do things on my own...but if the credit is big enough, maybe I'll give up some control.

Took advantage of the onboard booking on our B2B on the Fantasy in Sept/Oct last year. Totally forgot about it until we decided to plan for wife's birthday next year ...

Went to TA on Monday - our tentative booking was for a Bahama cruise this December the furthest ahead we could book onboard - moved it to May 2014 aboard the Fantasy - received 10% off and $200 OBC. Glad we did the onboard booking :)
