Trying to add one extra night to our stay and having a heck of a time finding what we want. I'm seeing the room if i look at 4, 5 and 7 days but not just the single night. What's the chance that if i book the longer stay and then call in that I'd be able to drop all of the nights i don't need?

For reference it's Wednesday January 29th and there are NO DVC studios or 1 bedroom units open that specific night either, anyone have any idea what might be going on that one night??? There are LOTS of rooms available, just not the one we'd like and since this will be after a 14 night stay in POFQ in a king bed room we'd rather not move for just the single night.

Odds are not great due to some Disney algorithm not wanting stray nights. You can certainly try it and see if a CM would merge the reservations and then drop the last two nights, but I think I remember reading on another thread that it took someone hours - yes hours - to do it and multiple phone calls with various CMs

I booked a long stay (12/20 to 01/02) at WDW back in late August/early September of this year.
Today, shaved off 4 days from the start and added 1 to the end. Also created a split stay, some nights at BWI (original reservation), others at Port of Orleans.
No problems or additional fees.

I just did this yesterday. I had 4 nights booked under the AP discount for December, but only needed 3 (which weren't available under the discount, but were available at rack rate). I called and told the CM what I had booked and what I needed/wanted. I got a super nice CM who was very willing to help. She looked at the reservation and said she'd try to change it herself but if she couldn't, she'd get with guest services to see if they'd be able to do it. She put me on hold for about 5 mins and came back with it changed, keeping my AP discount. It's not guaranteed they'll adjust your reservation, but it doesn't hurt to try. Good luck!
