Booking Magic Express late?

Hi I will be booking my magic express transportation pretty late. Well my TA will do it, this Wednesday, since Monday is a holiday and Tuesday she doesn't go to work. Anyways I would be leaving Aug 27th. So I think its about 23 days out before my trip counting from Aug 3 or 4th. Do you think that my tags will still come? Anyone has experience with booking it so close to the date? I know you can give your baggage claim to the CM, but I rather have the luggage tags. Thanks in advace for your help!
 
When we went in May we did basically the same thing you are doing. We did not get luggage tags but it was not a problem. We checked in at the ME desk and they showed us a chart picturing different types of luggage (pullman, gym bag, etc.). We had to tell them how many we had of each. We were a large family and had a total of 10 pcs of luggage. Before we left home I made my own tags stating dh's name (resort reservation was in his name) and our resort name. I printed them off the computer in big red bold letters. I slipped the paper into my regular luggage tags. Not sure if that helped but none of our luggage was lost. We checked in and went straight to the parks so I am not sure when our luggage arrived. But, it was all there when we returned from the parks.
BTW, they also gave us the option of accompanying a cast member to the luggage carousel and pointing out our luggage. Since we had 4 kids with us we did not choose that option.
 
We also added ME about three weeks out and received our luggage tags less than two weeks later. It was not a problem.
 
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I just got my ME tags for an 8/20 trip. Today my daughter and I decided to go two days early for some alone time. If I don't get the new ones in time, we'll just take a carryon for the two days and trust poor DH to shlep the majority of the luggage down.
 

i spoke to a cast member yesterday, while making some changes to our orginal plans. we are leaving 8/28, she said i should not have any trouble getting our tags. good luck

Remember poor DH will be limited to the number of bags allowed for his ticket. On most airlines that is two.... others cost extra ... A LOT extra.. (SW allows three)
 
I need to book our Magic Express Bus still( we don't leave until Sept.8), what # do I call to set it up? We are staying at the Beach Club Villas.

Are you staying on DVC points are did you reserve via a TA?

If DVC points, you call DVC. Otherwise call however you reserved from.

DH will still be bringing our son and younger Daughter. That will allow him 6 suitcases. With DVC's washer and dryer that's more than we need.
 
Hi everyone, thanks for all your help. :flower: So I went to TA's office today to give her my flight info and guess what came in the mail? The luggage tags for our stay, it actually came before our actually real package with confirmation etc. Anyways I switched resort, so the luggage tags says one resort and I am now booked at another. Disney says they won't send me new luggage tags and that I shouldn't have a problem, well that is what they told the TA.

So my question is, what do I do? Do I put the luggage tags on and maybe mark out the old resort and put in the new resort. Just put it on and hopes in goes to my new resort? Or don't put anything on and pick up my own luggage? Thanks in advance! :flower:
 
I just added DME onto my trip for next week. The rep from CRO told me there is a 7 day cut off period. I just made it. He said I would get the tags in time. We'll see, quite nervous about that. Wish me luck... :bounce:
 
The tags have a bar code on them so I don't think crossing out the resort name would work. (It might but I wouldn't want to depend on that).When you check in with ME at the airport you can decide if you want to go pick up your luggage or descibe the pieces/flight info to the CM and they should still be able to deliver your luggage.

Even if you have correct luggage tags, your luggage does not travel on the ME bus. It arrives at the resort hours later on a truck.

Like I said in a previous post, we reserved ME too late to receive tags but our luggage arrived in our room without a problem.
