Hi :wave2: Have booked the HNY for September (thanks for all the advice!) and have read with interest (all) the half board threads. When booking a holiday normally we would just eat in the hotel every night- i take it nobody does this in DLP?? Can i ask why not and that if anyone has any recommendations for restuarants to visit on a half board plus deal (especially good for a nearly 3 year old girl please!)

Thanks so much-loving this forum and will no doubt be back many times before i go! :)

You can of course eat in your hotel every night, but there's such a big choice and it's all quite close together. All the restaurants are suitable for children but in the Village Annettes, Cafe Mickey and Rainforest Cafe would be my choice for a 3 yr old (and I have one!)....although I don't think Rainforest is on the HB plan.

Thank you so much for your reply-its all very confusing for a 1st timer lol and just want to get it "right" for my daughter iykwim-dont want her missing out! :)
Thanks again...

I agree with Cafe Mickey and Annetes. I'm not convinced by the Rainforrest Cafe because of the lightning storms but you'll know if your child is ok with that or not (Kacee wouldn't be but he is only 22 months old) I'd suggest a buffet though as Kacee loves being able to eat as much as he wants of whatever he wants.

Thanks cap'njack-i'm really looking forward to going but finding it all a bit of a minefield atm-which is why this place is so great! :)

hi, we have used half board plus vouchers on both of our trips, and although you can use these vouchers in most of the restaurants at face value, we have always chosen to eat in the restaurants that accept them as full payment (including a soft drink) as they seem to be much better value.

For example, the set menu in the steakhouse given to the voucher holders totals 33 euros before the soft drink, but the vouchers would pay only 25 euros face value in a different restaurant not on the specific list.It is always nice to have a 3 course meal/buffet and a drink without having to pay anymore. We just feel that out of a choice of 17 restaurants that accept these vouchers as full payment, there is always somewhere to have a good meal.

with regards to the new york, the vouchers can be used at lunch only (total payment), but the hotel is just next door to the sequoia lodge which you can use the vouchers in the evening for both restaurants, or opposite the newport bay hotel, which is also supposed to be very good! We found the buffets good for our young children as they could pick what they fancied at the end of the day (which is good when they are tired)!!

Goodness just when i think im getting this i start to get confused again! :)
So i couldn't use my vouchers to eat in the HNY every night only at lunchtime-is that right??

Thanks for your reply and also to any future ones :)

no, sorry to confuse you!!
Almost all of the restaurants accept the vouchers at their face value which i think is 25 euros for the adult half board plus meaning you can use them at any time.

However, there is a list of 17 restaurants that will accept the vouchers as full payment of your meal including a soft drink.HNY is on this list, but at lunch only. In the evening, you can still eat there, but would only get the face value of the voucher off of your bill. This is for a 3 course meal or full buffet depending on the restaurant.

So whereas the sequioa lodge buffet is 27 euros for the buffet only, with the half board plus voucher, you wouldn't have to pay anymore, and you would also get your soft drink included. Also the same with the steakhouse which is also listed - the set menu has a price of 33 euros on for 3 courses, but as it is a hb + listed restaurant, the voucher covers the food and your soft drink!

The list of restaurants is available on the disney website, or faq's on this site.

That is why we think they are such good value for money.Hope i have made it a little clearer?:confused3

Ahh i see thank you-, its so hard to understand the written word at times (for me anyway! :))

Im really loving this forum as everyone is so helpful and friendly and i don't feel like a total pain (yet lol) for asking dumb questions.

In our child free years this would never have been the type of holiday that we would have considered but i think our daughter will just adore it, (and im really looking forward to it too) so want to get it just right for her. There's a lot of things to get my head round atm and i really appreciate people taking the time to advise, so thanks again :thumbsup2
