I asked this in the mega thread, but I think it got lost in the shuffle lol!

We are gold so I'll be calling tomorrow to put our OBB placeholder on a Summer 2017 cruise. We have friends who want to cruise with us, but they have never cruised DCL before. Can I book a room for them at the same time?

Nope not fair to the gold and platinum. They can book on Thursday now you can switch partners on the list. Have your husband in one room and you in another room.

That's what I figured. I guess what I'll do is I can find out the pricing for them (even though that may change by Thursday morning but at least it'll give them an idea.)

I have never heard of a 1 cabin restriction on opening day.

I have never heard of a 1 cabin restriction on opening day.

The question is about the early booking day for Gold/Platinum CC members, not the public opening day. I believe to book on the Gold/Plat early booking, you must put a Gold or Platinum CC member into each room booked that day. Staterooms with just Silver CC or new cruisers cannot be booked on the early booking day and must wait until booking is open to the general public.

that is what i thought as well, you can book more than 1 room as long as there is gold / platinum, so spouse can be a name in 2nd cabin.

Cannot confirm this is still current but a few years ago, they allowed you to book one other stateroom on the same sailing as you on Gold/Platinum day even if the other stateroom didn't have any gold/platinum castaways in it. So, it can't hurt to ask while you are booking yours if you are allowed to book for your friends. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed this and you are not allowed. But it isn't far-fetched, they used to do it.

Does anyone know if can I use a minor child who is a gold to book second room (if I also book an adult with him of course)?

In Dec 2015 we sailed with 8-by then I was platinum, DH and DD were Gold, this became DM's gold, DF was silver; it was the first cruise for DB, DSIL, and my niece.

When I booked I was able to use my DD for the second room(she was the only other one who was gold at the time) for our 2015 NYE cruise. I think those were booked back in ? Aug 2014? that's my last information. Sorry I can't be more up to date than that.

So: yes, on opening day there was 1 room per gold/plat; and yes, a minor (with an adult in the room) could be used to book a room. As of 2014. Hope this helps since DCL is always changing!

I believe the adult's name has to be on the booking, not the minor child. However, I think if a gold member is in the room, you still get a gift.

So if I book my friend's room with my husband's name tomorrow...can I change the name later?

We take 7 or 8 people with us divided between two or three cabins. Four of us are platinum. We always put at least one platinum in each cabin even if we don't intend to sleep that way. That way all csbins get the platinum gifts like free Palo and a bottle of wine and we get to book excursions sooner and all get onboard early. When we get onboard we just get extra keys to rooms so people can sleep where they want.

What about when it comes time to book excursions, etc...does it matter who is registered in what room? And I guess the payment all falls under our name? That's where I'm getting confused!

Each room/reservation can be paid for by a different method. You can use several different credit cards, if you wish.

When excursion booking time comes, the windows for each room will open based on the highest CC level booked in each room.

I did this as well. They let me book my parents who were silver with my gold daughter in their room. The rooms were connecting and she linked the ressies.

Told no today by my TA. I have a placeholder for 2 cabins. One for husband and myself, both gold. The other I booked for my daughter and family. My TA said she can only book our room tomorrow and my daughter's room on Thursday. I thought maybe since I bought the placeholder for 2 cabins and both of us are gold we could, but that was a NO. So I'll take my chances and see what happens. Hopefully the cabin beside us will still be available the next day. We are actually one cruise from Platium (october 2016 cruise will get us there) and the daughter and family are one cruise from gold (again, October 2015 cruise will be there #5). So close.....next time.

Yes, but did your TA ask DCL? Many TAs do not really know all DCL ins and outs.
